K-pop has taken the world by storm in this decade. We can never tell if it began with K-dramas or K-pop music, but by the end of the decade, millions were following K-pop idols and actors on social media. With a direct connection between fans and their idols through lives, fan meetings, and fan calls, the frenzy around them just keeps escalating. Hence, it would not take one by surprise that when an idol starts talking about something, let us say, their favorite TV show, it ends up becoming the fan favorite as well. That is the impact they have on the entertainment industry. There have been numerous instances when famous idols have candidly fangirled over their favorite K-dramas and worry not; we have prepared a list to treat your inner stan!
1. Sky Castle-RM
It's no surprise that BTS leader RM found his way into the Sky Castle fandom, considering the show’s success and popularity owing to its brutally realistic and intriguing storyline. In a chat on the V-Live app with the ARMY, RM noted he was so excited to watch the show’s finale he returned to his place hurriedly to watch it; He was even crestfallen after it ended, giving us something to relate to and reminded us again that these idols are, in fact, humans.
2. Itaewon Class-V
Taehyung, aka V, from BTS, has his fan base out of the ARMY, and it’s no doubt he is one of the prettiest men alive right now. There have been global polls to prove it. Hence, when Taehyung calls a drama good, it has to be good. He even went as far as lending his vocals to its soundtrack and composed a solo track to the drama’s OST. Blackpink is one of the most successful bands in the world and has a vast and loyal fanbase. They often connect with their fans through lives, and interviews and in one such interview, one of their members, Rosé, talked about how she has been obsessed with the Korean drama, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay. She has also openly praised its lead actress Kim Soo Hyun’s beauty and acting, and often dropping hearts under her posts. Not just Rosé, in an IG Live, all four band members were seen gushing about the show and how much they loved it.
4. Goblin-Lisa
It seems like Blackpink members cannot stay away from the magic of K-dramas just like us. This beauty watched Goblin with her fellow bandmate, Rose, and has been bewitched ever since. She has even gushed about its lead actor, Gong Yoo, in multiple interviews, calling him her ‘ideal type’. All we can say about this obsession of hers with the show and its lead is, we get it, Lisa, we do.
5. Descendants Of The Sun-Yugyeom
GOT 7 might have disbanded in 2021, but its popularity remains. With members having successful solo careers, their fanbase is more or less left unfazed by the heartbreaking news of the hiatus and hangs on everything that comes out of their idol’s mouth. Just like the time, Yugyeom noted how he enjoyed the drama Descendants Of The Sun. A part of the most famous band in the world, BTS, when J-Hope expressed his love for the swoon-worthy show Crash Landing On You, he sent fandoms into meltdown. During a V Live on his birthday, he shared with his fans how much he had loved watching the show during quarantine and even shed quite a lot of tears while doing it. 9. Twenty Five Twenty One-Jungkook
When Twenty-Five Twenty-One was released in 2022, we never knew it would end up breaking the hearts of so many. It was unusual for a K-drama to be sad, but its wholesome and yet heartbreaking plot might be the reason it gained the popularity it deserved. Even Jungkook, the band member of BTS who has recently released his single Seven, could not help fangirling over it. In an Instagram story, he revealed he was watching the drama, and the revelation created quite a buzz online.
10. The World Of The Married-Kim Heechul
The World Of The Married is a record-breaking series with unpredictable plotlines that multiple idols have talked about. One of these idols is Kim Heechun of Super Junior. During a live show, he candidly shared with his fans how he had been watching it and even recommended it to them.
