Article: Ten K-Drama Female Characters Who Have Unique Jobs

K-dramas have given viewers an insight into many professions. They show us how difficult every job can be but such hardships can be overcome if we love our job. While medical and legal dramas are very common, here are some female leads who have jobs that are unknown to many.

1. Shin Ha Ri

In the drama ‘Business Proposal,’ Shin Ha Ri works as a researcher in the food development team. Her job is to try different recipes, test it and analyse whether it can be used as a product of their food company. While people think chefs are the only people in kitchens, there is a new job in the field.

2. Oh Mi Joo

Run On’s Oh Mi Joo is a translator who mostly works on subtitles of movies. Though many might feel that the job is easy if one knows the languages, it is not true. As Oh Mi Joo states in the drama, translating dialogues involves conveying the feeling behind it to the viewers and not just the meaning.

3. Go Ah In

Go Ah In is the first ever female executive member of a company in the drama ‘Agency.’ She leads the production team of an advertising company as a creative director. Her job involves brainstorming for new ideas every day and surviving in the competitive world of advertising.

4. Yeon Bo Ra

In Bo Ra! Deborah, the titular character is a novelist. But this is not the unique job we are talking about. She is also a dating coach who shares her views about love and helps many to save their love lives. Her programmes are a hit and people wait for her dating tips.

5. Kim Dal

Heavenly Idol’s Kim Dal works as a talent manager of an idol group. Her job involves maintain the members’ schedules, taking care of their meals, arranging photoshoots and helping them with their concepts. The drama also shows the responsibilities a manager bears because of the failure of a group.

6. Choi Sang Eun

Could anyone ever imagine that being a spouse would be a job? Not until ‘Love in Contract’ was released. Choi Sang Eun works as a professional who acts as a fake partner to single men. She attends family events, alumni gatherings, etc and even help people get their property by posing as their wife.

7. Go Hye Rim

Go Hye Rim in ‘Madam Antoine’ cons people and that is definitely not the unique job I would add in the list. She poses as a fortune-teller and has a keen observation which leads to her success. This is not a typical job that a female lead in a drama would have. She also has a café in the show.

8. Koo Kyung Yi

‘Inspector Koo’, the protagonist is an insurance investigator who is in-charge of checking on people’s insurance claims. Having worked as a police officer before, she also does some private detective work. Though she is always drunk, she focuses immensely on her cases.

9. Song Seol

The First Responders’ Song Seol is a paramedic. Though we have a lot of medical dramas, the career of a paramedic has not been explored in any show until this one. She works at a fire station and has to witness some of the most distressing situations. But she works with both kindness and courage.

10. Hwang Ji Ahn

Hwang Ji Ahn from the show ‘I Do, I Do’ works at a shoe company. She has worked hard to become the director of the company. From designing the shoes herself, to approving new ideas, and marketing the products, she has a lot of responsibility as a director.
