According to South Korea’s law, male citizens of a country between the ages of 18 and 28 should perform military service. In this article, we’ve listed 10 Korean stars who were enlisted for military service.
1. Lee Min Ho
In May 2017, Lee Min Ho enlisted in the military as a public service officer. He began his training in the military on March 15 2019, at the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan, South Korea. He was discharged on April 25, 2019.
2. Park Seo Joon
Park Seo Joon served in the military immediately after completing high school at 19 years old in 2010. He was discharged in 2010. He started his career as an actor after he was discharged from the military. He made his debut after his military service in 2011 in a music video called “I Remember”.
3. Park Hyung Sik
Park Hyung Sik began his training in the military on March 15, 2019. He joined the Nonsan Army Recruit Training Center. He was officially discharged from the military on January 4, 2021. Following his military discharge, he is ready to act in the thriller “Happiness” as a Crime Detective.
4. Song Joon Ki
Song Joon Ki enlisted in the military on 27 August 2013. He was assigned to conduct reconnaissance missions along the DMZ. He was officially discharged from the military on May 26, 2015. Right after he was discharged from the military, he acted as a captain in Descendants of The Sun, which was a major hit worldwide.
5. Kim Soo Hyun
Kim Soo Hyun was enlisted on October 23, 2017. He was assigned to a military camp in Paju, Gyeonggi. He was discharged on 1 July, 2019. Right after his discharge, he acted in “It’s OK to not be okay” in 2020, which was one of the best dramas of 2020.
6. Hyun Bin
Hyun Bin was enlisted on March 7, 2011 for military service. He was assigned to the marines during his service in the military. He was officially discharged on December 6, 2012, and he was awarded the secretary of defense award. For his comeback in acting, he played the lead role in Fatal Encounter, which was not up to expectations.
7. Choi Tae Joon
Choi Tae Joon was enlisted on August 1, 2019, and was assigned as a public service worker. He was officially discharged on May 18, 2021. He acted in “So I Married an Anti-Fan”
8. Gong Yoo
Gong Yoo was enlisted for military service on January 14, 2008. He did eight months of frontline service, and then he served in the public relations department. He was officially discharged on December 8, 2009. After his military service, Gong Yoo acted in “Finding Mr. Destiny”.
9. Yook Sung Jae
Yook Sung Jae is an admired singer and actor in South Korea. He enlisted for military service on May 11, 2020. After completing his five weeks of basic training in Nonsan, he will serve as part of the National Defense military band. He is going to be discharged from the military on November 14, 2021.
10. Park Boo Gum
Park Boo Gum enlisted for military service on August 30, 2020. He served at the Navy Headquarters in Gyeryong. He is going to be discharged from military service in April 2022.
