Drama Digest
A story about Lu Fangning, a bossy executive of a furniture corporation who is trying to win the heart of the gentle and dashing surgeon Ling Rui. The two got married because of an agreement but slowly falls for each other in their married life. Lu Fangning is a cold, proud, and stubborn executive. Due to the pressure from her family, she signs a contract that binds her to one year of marriage with Ling Rui. Ling Rui is a person of sheer focus and efficiency. In the beginning, Fangning wants to have Ling Rui’s love, but he slowly learns to understand Fangning and takes the initiative to woo her instead.
The Feel-Good Part
Firstly, they have supportive parents. They’re not the stereotypical “evil” in-laws. Both parents are good-hearted and want the best for their children and just want them to be happy. You also have interesting side couples. At first glance, you might think a love triangle will deter the show, but it doesn’t. At first, you might find the SML as a bad guy but not realize that he’s harmless and caring deep down. It doesn’t fall into the pit hole of the second male lead. He cares for the FL and her wants/desires. Even the initially annoying Tang Ping stops her bratty nature relatively quickly and becomes a supporting character instead. Overall, the characters are very enjoyable.
The Disappointing Part
One issue with the plot is the business politics side. This is the one part of the drama where it feels forced and unnatural. The character’s motivations are unbelievable. It’s not particularly relevant.
In-Depth Analysis
It tells the story of a domineering female CEO and a warm doctor who turn a fake relationship into reality due to practical reasons. Having exchanged their “I do’s” they start on a new chapter of their lives as they learn to fall in love. Lu Fangning is the general manager of Luning Group, a large corporation in the business of home furniture. Lu Fangning is a woman who has it all talented, beautiful, and rich. Nearing her thirties, Lu Fangning succumbs to family pressures and decides that she urgently needs a husband with whom she will have a child. Coincidentally, surgeon Ling Rui appears in front of her. Ling Rui is not only blessed with good looks but also has an angelic heart, which makes him a perfect candidate in the eyes of Lu Fangning. She schemes her way into his life and they finally become husband and wife. Lu Fangning eventually realizes the error in her ways and strives to be better.
Star Power
The main female lead is a forceful and strong CEO while the male lead is a caring, quiet, and considerate doctor. It’s so nice to see stronger female leads. Even Zhou Yutong is so funny and adorable as well. Simon Gong plays his great part as a foil to the FL. There are great character developments and so many individual cute moments.
Overall Opinion
Yes, I have to say that the main leads’ chemistry and romance stood out in this drama. Watch this for the adorable characters. The strong female lead, the nice male lead. Likable supporting cast. You will eventually love this show.
