There are undoubtedly so many Korean dramas and numerous actors are working in them. Almost every Korean drama fan has heard and knows actors like Park Seo Joon, Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Dong Wook, Song Joong Ki, Lee Min Ho, Hyun Bin, etc. Some actorshowever,remain underappreciated for their roles., The minor roles performed by such artists leaves a lasting impression in our hearts and those names comes to mind due to their exceptional acting skills and visuals, and deserve more recognition, hype, and support.

So, here are the top 10 underrated Korean actors.

1. Choi Tae-Joon

Choi Tae Joon has been in the entertainment industry since 2001 but has never played a lead role. He has appeared in several Korean dramas and received attention for his supporting roles, such as All about my mom, A girl who smells, Flowers of the prison, Missing 9, Adolescence Medley, Ugly Alert, etc. The dramas he is most known for are 'Suspicious Partner' and 'The Undateables. Though he played the supporting character role in the drama but his presence and comic timing was appreciated on the screen. After so much hard work, he got the role of the male lead in the Korean remake of So I am married to an anti-fan alongside actress Sooyoung.

 

2. Lee Soo Hyuk

Lee Soo Hyuk is one of the most underrated actors today. His best-known role is the antagonist vampire in Scholar Who Walks The Night (2015). Some of the dramas he has been starred  include Vampire Idol (2011), Valid Love (2014), Born Again (2020), and his recent drama was Doom at Your Service (2021).  Aside from that, he has appeared in movies like Horror stories II (2013), Pipeline (2021), etc. He originally debuted as a model is no surprise because of his sharp features and piercing gaze. Despite his age, he looks as if his 20's haven't passed him by, so we hope he gets cast as the male lead soon.  

 

3. Kwak Si Yang

In addition to being one of the most appealing actors in the industry, Kwak Si Yang has excellent male lead potential. There is no doubt that he has nailed each role portrayed by him in dramas like Alice (2020), Chicago Typewriter (2017), and Mirror of the Witch (2016). You can catch him in his ongoing drama Lovers of the Red Sky, which airs in August 2021. Casting directors should consider him for angsty roles since he excels at them.

 

4. Kwak Dong Yeon

Kwak Dong Yeon is one of the finest yet underrated actors. The talent he has displayed on multiple projects should be recognized and appreciated. Not only his talent in acting but for the  detailed visuals which make his character as reminiscence. He has appeared in several dramas, including Fight My Way (2017), My ID is Gangnam Beauty (2018), Love In the Moonlight (2016), It's Okay to Not Be Okay (2020). Dong Yeon rose to fame for his role in one of the highest-rated dramas, Vincenzo (2021). The combination of his skills, handsome appearance, and genuine character are excellent reasons to give him more spotlight time.

 

5. Sung Hoon

An injury forced Sung Hoon to leave the national swimming team after 14 years. He is such a criminally underrated actor. He has impressed others with his work in, Oh My Venus (2015) and My Secret Romance (2017). He has all features one requires in a male lead from body to looks, from acting skills to sharp visuals. The person who deserves appreciation and admiration is Sung Hoon.  He is a great actor, and we wish to see him in more dramas.

 

6. Lee Je Hoon

Korean entertainment star Lee Je Hoon is known for being very specific about his projects, making him one of the biggest stars in the industry. He has done more films than dramas might explain why he is surprisingly underrated among K-Drama fans. He has also starred in numerous commercials as well as television shows. Some of his dramas are Secret Door (2014), Tomorrow With You (2017), Taxi Driver (2021).

 

7. Jung Hae-In

Jung Hae-in has worked in much popular drama series, which include Reply 1988 (2015), Yeah, That's How It’s (2016), Goblin (2016), etc. Later in 2017, he was recognized for his roles in While You Were Sleeping and Prison Playbook. It was the drama Something in the Rain in which he played the leading role. And his much-awaited drama Snowdrop is scheduled to air in the second half of 2021 alongside Kim Ji Soo.

 

8. Jang Ki-Yong

Jang Ki-Yong is fast becoming a leading man for his sexy on-screen charisma and handsome looks, not forgetting  his outstanding acting. He has played supporting roles in dramas, including We Broke Up (2015), Love for a Thousand More (2016), and The Liar and His Lover (2017).  9. Jung I1-Woo

Jung I1-Woo maybe 33, but he sure doesn't look that old. Bossam: Steal the Fate (2021) was his most recent historical romance drama. The most notable television dramas he has done that made an impact were Unstoppable High-Kick (2006), 49 Days (2011), Moon Embracing the Sun (2012), and Haechi (2019). He has also acted in Cinderella and the Four Knights (2016) and Sweet Munchies (2020).

 

10. Son Ho Jun

Son Ho Jun has a charm that is hard to resist on screen. Though we only think that he's suitable for a romantic comedy, he's also capable of doing the most tear-jerking scenes. Amongst his most recognized dramas are Reply 1994 (2013), Go Back Couple (2017), and The Light in Your Eyes (2019). In the drama The Uncanny Counter (2020), he made a cameo appearance. Fans enjoy his incredible acting skills and want him to do more projects.
