Drama Digest

The drama showcases the life of Chae Da Hee. She has spent her entire life under her strict mother’s control and has always felt pressured by her unrealistic expectations. She had been miserable for almost all her life, but now Da Hee plans on changing it all and getting a fresh start. She is a university freshman now and wishes to experience the freedom she has never gotten before. She is trying to be her true self as she lives to the fullest, while also trying to satisfy everyone expectations towards her. But it turns out that it isn’t as easy as she thought it would be. As if all this wasn’t enough, Da Hee’s friends also try to boss her around, always ordering her about what to do or where to go. Hence, Da Hee starts feeling suffocated from all this. Just then, she meets Lee Hyun Jin, who dreams of becoming a music producer and is working hard for it. He, too suffers, from family issues and thus, sympathizes with Da Hee. They both start seeking comfort in each other. But how will the external forces affect their relationship?

The Feel-Good Part

The depiction of the life of the twenty-year-olds in the drama is quite realistic. Everyone can indeed easily relate to it. The characters being exposed to new responsibilities for the first time in their lives as they struggle to cope with their situations is not just fun to watch but is also something we all have experienced or are experiencing. Moreover, the OST of the drama is just the chief’s kiss. It fits so perfectly with the ambience of the show. The young and naïve, in terms of life, characters will fill you with the enthusiasm for doing something new, working for your dreams and this unique sense of dynamic strength.

The Disappointing Factor

Consistency in regards to the pace of the drama is an issue. At some points, the story feels too slow, while at others, it feels rushed. There remain a few things that weren’t sent off to their rightful end. The inconsistent pace of the drama often robs the story off of its authentic charm and eminence, especially if we talk in terms of the illustrated love story. Although it is interesting, it could have been developed more. The romance feels rushed, and the love triangle also seems half baked. If compared to the family drama element of the show, the romance is probably bland.

In-Depth Analysis

The story of young adults working hard to discover their dreams while simultaneously being exposed to responsibilities and their fair share of freedom for the first time in their life is very engaging. The drama has something for everyone to relate to, be it the topic of adulating, the trauma of bullying, friendship, over-the-top family expectations, young romance, self-discovery, family disputes and dramas, honesty or freedom and independence. It has it all. Just like its parent series, A-Teen, Twenty Twenty also is a fun and exciting watch that is highly relatable and will even teach you a few things.

Star Power

The cast selection for the drama was entirely appropriate. We get to see ‘Han Sung Min’ as Chae Da Hee, ‘Kim Woo Seok’ as Lee Hyun Jin, ‘Park Sand Nam’ as Jung Ha Jun, ‘Chan’ as Son Bo Hyun, ‘Chae Won Bin’ as Baek Ye Eun, and ‘Jin Ho Eun’ as Kang Dae Geun. They all are part of the main cast and can be seen p[erforming their roles to utmost perfection.

Overall Opinion

The drama is brief, entertaining and worth the time. It is probably the perfect show for every young adult who is struggling to make the people around them happy but yet not let their freedom and joy be menaced by it. The people who are looking for balance, and don’t want to make their family proud at the cost of their happiness, will be for sure be able to relate to the story.
