Drama Digest

The drama portrays the story of two long-term friends, Kyung Woo-Yeon and Lee Soo, who are secretly in love with each other and have been for the past ten years. But they weren’t able to profess their love due to a misunderstanding between them. The female lead, Woo-Yeon, longs to get out of the “friend zone” she dreads so much. Therefore, she confesses to him before he leaves for the US, but he rejects her twice. She decides to get over this loveless life and starts dating other men to find love. But what happens when her first love, Lee Soo, comes back into her life when she finally feels sparks with someone else? Watch the drama “More Than Friends” to figure out how the story unravels.

The Feel-Good Part

Unlike other dramas, their tropes were unique. The love triangle is portrayed in a very unconventional but admirable way. This story gives us a new perspective on complex relationships and personalities with its slow-burn romance and sophisticated characters.

The Disappointing Factor

The drama is very draggy, and the plot seems to be especially repetitive. Even though the drama genre has been labelled as “romance”, the chemistry among the main characters isn’t always the best part of the show. Furthermore, the acting may seem cringe-worthy and the characters can be a little obnoxious.

In-Depth Analysis

The story is about an innocent girl who believes in love and takes her chances but is brutally turned down. After the rejection, it becomes her mission to find love in her seemingly loveless life. She overlooks her crush’s behaviour and is full of life and love, but once she turns her back on him and seeks love elsewhere, she is constantly met with disappointments. Then her first love appears back in her life, threatening to collapse whatever progress she has made. The drama has more of a friendship and self-discovery type of notion, which overtakes the romance in the story.

Star Power

The drama is carried well by Ong Seong-wu (who plays Lee Soo), Shin Ye-eun (who plays Kyung Woo-Yeon) and Kim Dong-jun (who plays Oh Joon-soo). They were incredibly immersed in their roles.

Overall Opinion

Even though such a slow-paced and emotionally stimulating drama may not be for everyone, if you love introspective and thought-provoking dramas, then this one is indeed for you.
