Article: K-Drama Love Language That We All Crave

We have regular romance comedy, and then we have our K-drama romance comedy. K-dramas for romance are simply impossible to beat, from Dr. Romantic to Weightlifting Fairy. Every K-drama fan will agree after watching some of the best shows, increasing our standard of love. There is a vast difference in the portrayal of love language and romantic feelings in Western dramas and K-dramas. Western dramas focus on fast-paced or situational relationships. K-dramas love the chemistry build-up, slow burn, and love gestures that make it entirely engaging, giving us butterflies.

1. Pat On The Head

There is usually something so calm and soothing about nonsexual skinships, like a little gesture of warmth from your partner will help you forget all your stress and shitty day at work. All the Goblin fans have seen many romantic encounters, but the sight of Ji Eun-Tak and Kim Shin making lovely eye contact while patting each other’s heads makes us all swoon with jealousy.

2. Acts Of Service

K-dramas are the perfect example of an act of service. Acts of service are just gestures or acts that show care and love. These dramas show how they are done right with the intention to help a partner out and show appreciation. The perfect example is Jiyong, who is seen going out of his way to ensure you are happy and will make you feel secure and loved, no matter what.

3. Over The Top Dates

Sorry to say this but no men in real life can top these fictional mens on planning the best and most perfect dates. Have you ever imagined how it will feel when your other half books the entire amusement park or shopping mall just for you so they can kiss you under the fireworks under the moonlight. This is a significant thing in K-dramas, thanks to dramas like Business Proposal and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?

4. Quality Time

K-dramas showcase that a man doesn't tend to shy away when required to spend quality time with you or introducing to your family. One example of this is Suho, who is a walking dream come true. He is very thoughtful and caring, a business, who even though is always busy will take out time just to be with you. He dedicates his time to flourishing others.

5. Words Of Affirmation

Don’t we all deserve a partner who loves to express and communicate their feelings openly. The most enormous green flag in a relationship is through verbal affirmations. Have you seen Extraordinary Attorney Woo, if you have you will know how it feels to have a partner who is constantly reassuring you and will never shy away from expressing their love for you openly?

6. Giving And Receiving Gifts

K-dramas showcase how people love to give gifts to their loved ones whenever they want, not just on some occasion. It’s about how you think about them at the shortest moment and are just not doing it to show how much you are earning or your position. People whose love language is gift-giving think of giving gifts as a physical symbol of love. Don’t we all just want to come home on a random day to get roses or chocolates? There is a saying in Korea that don’t give your partner shoes as they will run away.

7. Food

Corn dogs, kimchi, or fried chicken are just the food items that will just send us into a food come by looking at them. Imagine what it would be like if someone enjoyed putting up all the effort to prepare food for you? Heavenly right! In K-dramas we can see the characters, especially the men, who love to cook for their partners, making us all crave the food and love that we aren’t receiving.

8. Physical Touch

People with physical touch as their love language appreciate it when their partner touches them. K-dramas tend to show how even the slightest touch matters, and not all is about just being physically. Holding hands, pushing your hair behind the ear are some examples of how simple it can be. These small touches make your partner feel loved more than we can imagine.

9. Grand Declaration Of Love

Grand proposals have always been my favorite gesture, like Weightlifting Fairy’s cute playground scene or Lee Min Ho’s teary-eyed love confession in The King: Eternal Monarch. Even though these scenarios are just fictional, they seem to leave a big impact on all its viewers. There is something so magical about these proposals- the significant hugs and teary eyes making us watch them on repeat.

10. Back Hugs

Ahh Back Hugs, are they just amazing, they aren’t your regular hugs, but they are your peaceful hugs. K-dramas are known for their back hugs, during an emotional scene when the person is leaving and the guy will just give them a back hug, showcasing their love and that they don’t want them to leave. Sometimes they are so happy they don’t want to let go of them.
