Chinese dramas have one of the most beautiful storylines. They have sweet movements, fantastic cinematography, and gorgeous artists. But these C-Dramas also have some of the most tragic endings. Sometimes, these endings are not appreciated by the audience. So, let’s look at some of the C-Dramas whose endings were a disappointment to the audience.

1. Goodbye, My Princess

The story of the drama is set when Xiao Feng is all set to marry the crown prince Li Cheng Yin, who is the most liked Princess of Western Liang. She sets out on a journey, leaving the land she loves to become the crown princess. The ending of this series left the audience disappointed who wanted the main leads to end up together. But Xiaofeng, the female lead, sacrifices herself for peace between the two kingdoms.

2. Scarlet Heart

The story starts with a car accident that transports Zhang Xiao back in time to the body of one of her past incarnations, Maertai Ruoxi, a 16-year-old aristocratic Manchu girl who lived under the Qing Dynasty. Though recognizing she shouldn't get involved with palace politics over the succession to the throne, Ruoxi became an instrument in the fight because she couldn't help but fall in love with someone. The female lead and the male lead, in the end, decided to part ways because their ideologies were different from each other, and they couldn’t change one another. While the ending was a disappointment for some sections of the audience who wanted the couple to end together, there were some who felt the conclusion was a practical one.

3. Love And Destiny

This is the tale of Jiu Chen, the God of War, and Ling Xi, a young fairy girl. Ling Xi unintentionally awakens Jiu Chen, who had been asleep for fifty thousand years after sealing away the demon king. In the end, the male and female lead not only ended up together but also had a child but still, the ending did not satisfy the audience as they were expecting more from the lead character. The ending felt rushed and dragged too much.

4. Princess Pearl

Xiao Yan Zi encountered Xia Zi Wei, a poor girl who marched far to locate her father, the Emperor, but no one believed her. Xiao Yan Zi chose to sneak into the mountain where the emperor hunts, but Zi Wei was exhausted by the mountain climb and asked Xiao Yan Zi to tell the emperor her story. Xiao Yan Zi is shot on her route and cannot completely recount her account, leading the Emperor to mistake her for the Princess. The ending of the story was a fairytale ending, with all the characters getting what they wanted, but some people felt like the ending could not conclude the drama properly.

5. The King’s Women

The story of the drama revolves around a very beautiful women during the Warring Kingdom era. Gong Sun Li, the granddaughter of the military commander Gong Sun Yu. She and her childhood friend Jiang are in love. The circumstances led to the separation of childhood lovers, and Sun Li had to marry Ying Zheng, the king of the Qin State. While both of them later fall in love, their happiness is short-lived as the male lead, who is overly suspicious and ruthless, loses his love, and he is the one to kill her. He from then on, realized his flaws but was too late. The ending left some fans of the drama upset who wanted the couple to live happily ever after.

6. Sealed With A Kiss

This is the story of Tong Xue, a young interior designer with a secretive life who lives as a mistress of Mo Shao Qian, a wealthy businessman who helps her with a lavish lifestyle and showers her with expensive gifts but also tortures her brutally. The drama ended with the female lead moving away overseas, leaving the male lead. This separation probably disappointed a section of the audience who wanted them to end together.

7. Journey Of Flower

It's the story of a master and his student falling in love. Hua Qiangu, the main character, is an unhappy orphan looking for a chance to acquire magic and martial arts to survive after her parents died. She is accepted as Chang Liu's only pupil by the sect leader Bai Zihua. Qian Gu develops feelings for her teacher but hides them till the very end. The ending of the drama left many fans disappointed as even though the leads end up together, but the way this is shown was very rushed and complicated to the extent that it did not make any sense.

8. Rise Of Phoenixes

The story of power, desire, lust, and love among the people of ancient China's various kingdoms. You must emerge from the mud, no matter who you are, to become The Great Phoenix. This television series was released in 2018. The series ends with the female lead killing herself because the male lead had caused too many people to die, and she believed their union would cause more pain to everyone. This ending disappointed the audience as everyone was rooting for the female lead and her journey towards a free life, which was cut short, and she couldn’t achieve what she wanted.

9. The Song Of Glory

Set during the Song period of China's Southern Dynasties. The Lord of Pengcheng, Guardian Liu Yi-Kang, falls in love with Shen Li-Ge. They married and worked together to expose shady judicial officials. The audience was waiting to see the two end up living together happily without any problems. Still, the story took a sad turn, with the female lead committing suicide as she was supposed to be executed.

10. One And Only

Zhou Sheng Chen was brought up by his brother, the Emperor, until he was thirteen years old, at which point he left on a mission of frontier defense. Cui Shi Yi, the well-educated daughter of a wealthy family, has been engaged to the Crown Prince. However, political scheming and tragic occurrences cause Cui Shi Yi to become silent, her former fiancé to become a child Emperor, and Zhou Sheng Chen to return to the city amid political turmoil. This drama ended on a sad note, with one couple getting their happy ending.
