This is a Chinese documentary divided into thirty-five short episodes. It is focused on introducing a variety of Chinese breakfast cuisine. 

The Feel-Good Factor

The freshness of the show is a big plus point. As it portrays various breakfast cuisines made by street vendors, it makes one feel fresh, and energized and gets one started for the day. Also, the viewers get to learn a lot of new delicacies coming from different parts of the country, China.  

The Disappointing Factor

The episodes are way too short and hence don’t give much time to the viewers to experience the show well. It also may seem boring sometimes. 

In-Depth Analysis

The title ‘Breakfast in China’ itself suggests that it is related to food especially breakfast. This show was launched after the huge success of the show ‘A Bite of China and Flavourful origin’ which was another show based on portraying the breakfast culture of China. This show is in documentary form and has been divided into thirty-five short episodes, each ranging from five to eight minutes. The show takes us around various streets of China, taking place in the morning, where we get to see numerous popular food items that are eaten as breakfast in China. Some of these food items are pork rice noodles, sour rice noodles, pork blood soup, etc. It also explains to us the history, origin, and importance of those specific food recipes. The main broadcaster of the show is Tencent’s video website. As of the current season which is the season three, there were thirty episodes released on October 19th, 2020.

There can be no specific star for this show as it was entirely related to food-eating and food-making activities.

Overall Opinion

For someone who likes to watch food related stuff or recipes, they can try this one. Though short, they’ll enjoy learning the various traditions and practices related to Chinese food.
