Korean Cold Noodle Rhapsody is a twopart Netflix documentary and an English sequel to Hanwoo Rhapsody, which is in Korean. The host is a South Korean chef, Paik JongWon, a food researcher. Paik travels around different parts of Korea, like Jinji, Jeju Island, Busan, and Seoul, to differentiate, explore, and taste cold noodles, known as Naengmyeon in Korea. The documentary also features various historians, food critics, and restaurateurs to provide even more details about this unique recipe.

The Feel-Good Part

The makers did an amazing job, and have put a lot of effort into creating the series, and it is visible.

The series is excellent, besides a few minor flaws.

In-Depth Analysis

Naengmyeon is a cold noodle dish consisting of thin and chewy handmade noodles made with buckwheat and potato starch. The final dish is topped with pickled radish and radish soup, sliced cucumbers, and boiled beef or egg. There are various types of naengmyeon noodles available, like refrigerated, dried, and frozen. The series also depicts the long history of the cold noodles that have been available since the early 1800s during the Joseon Dynasty. They compare how technology has helped in changing the taste in each era, starting from the recipe served to King Gojong to the formula that is now used in 2022.
