We see their struggles to date, find love, and have somebody that they can call their own. We see their lives as it relates to their families, and so much more. No matter what happens, we get a glimpse into a lifestyle filled with parties and pure fun. Who are these men? What does their nightlife teach us about queer culture? The Feel-Good Part
While queer culture is already a taboo subject in most Asian households, the show takes an extra step further to show us queer nightlife. Not only does it open up a new avenue of nightlife culture but also showcases them in a positive light. This show at its core is pure hedonism and loves to show us these cast members having the time of their lives and just living life to the fullest. The cast is also filled with really attractive men that add to the greatness of the show. While they do serve as eye candy throughout the series there is also a sense of heart and vulnerability in the way they are portrayed and the things we learn about them. Another great aspect of the drama is the relationship aspects which showcase these men as more than just party animals, but people who are looking for love and trying to find it and maintain it. This not only humanizes them but showcases them as just like any other person.
The Disappointing Factor
The show does not necessarily do a great job of representing queerness as a whole. Audiences with narrow minds might tend to generalize all queer people into the same category. It is important to understand that the show does not aim to showcase queerness as a whole but as a certain group of men just having a good time. The show at times does get a bit one-note and repetitive but these moments are broken by the vulnerable side of the cast members. The other disappointing aspect of this drama is that, for the most part, it feels like it wants to say more but doesn’t and covers it up with the party landscape.
In-Depth Analysis
Queer nightlife has existed for years and years and continues to grow and expand into a color display of fun and enjoyment. At every moment in time, these shows allow us to peek into this culture. It does showcase a narrow view of it by just showcasing a group of good-looking gay men but we can still learn a lot from it. There is a lot to explore with queer nightlife and with a follow-up series or continuation, the show can cover all aspects or bring in new people to continuously show us the difference in perspective and experiences.
Star Power
The drama is directed by Ten Tosatid Darnkhuntod who also stars in the show. He is best known for directing projects such as My Bromance, and The Extra. He has appeared in dramas and movies such as Secret Love: Love Behind One’s Back, Nha Tarng Barn Rak, Gay OK Bangkok, Part Time, Bangkok Love Stories: Please, Bangkok Love Stories: Please, Sleepless Society: Two Pillows, and Friend Zone 2: Dangerous Area. He is also the founder of Ex10 Energy Drink The cast is arguably the best part of the entire show and as the episodes progress, we get to see so much about them and learn so much about their lifestyle that we end up relating to them even through their extreme moments. This cast consists of Rally Teerakarn Pitayutaiwan, Adam Miller, Good Krit Aslam, Teand Thanan Panma, and Jay Walk. Throughout their run, in the show, we get to see new and exciting sides of their personality. While each member of the cast has not appeared in other major projects we can see them enjoying long careers as models and reality TV stars.
Overall Opinion
With a wild time and beautiful people, this show has something to show. And through its vulnerable moments, it does make for a really interesting watch.
