The story is about a married couple who have been married for last ten years but are not satisfied with each other. Soo Yeon and Se Hyeok are wife and husband, respectively, Se Hyeok is suffering from aspermia, and Soo Yeon lacks the desire for sex, as a result, the couple has no kids. Although there was too much comfort in their life due to high economic stability, their marriage was suffocating and frustrating to Soo Yeon because once she was a very talented dancer at the starting of her career but had to stop dancing because of her injury. Due to the work of Se Hyeok the couple moves to Busan from Seoul. Se Hyeok gets busy with his work and in the meantime, Soo Yeon starts teaching dance to a young guy named Joon Hee, who once dreamt of becoming an actor but now is in a wheelchair as his lower body is completely paralyzed. Seeing someone more injured than her, Soo Yeon gets closer to Joo Hee because of mutual health condition. They befriend each other, share the same feelings and spend many times together. After sometimes, they both start to fall for each other, they can’t control their emotions, and they share body liberation, which starts ruining the current relationship of their lives.

The Feel-Good Part

The best part of the movie is when it is shown Se Hyeok gets busy with his work in Busan because one day, the truth definitely comes out. So whe, he would come across the news that his wife Soo Yeon was cheating on him that time, at least he would make himself busy with his work to deal with such heartbreaking news.

The Disappointing Factor

The movie could have been more interesting with some more climax as it was. The film showcases and promotes adultery and cheating of the partner. They could have skipped the part of the protagonist’s body liberation with a third person. This movie should have been got more success.

In-Depth Analysis

The movie is directed by Kim Minkyung, and it shows the bitterness of married life. It is a perfect blending of drama and fantasy. If you love to watch romantic movies and are a fan of K-drama you must watch this film. At a point, the character of the female protagonist is shown as a toxic lady who gets frustrated about her life. The movie Remain is about the cracks in married life where the female protagonist has lost all her feeling but later finds happiness in spending time with a third person. It is a painful story of a loveless couple that will make you cry.

Star Power

The movie is starred by Lee Ji Yeon (Soo Yeon), Kim Young Jae (Se Hyeok), and Ha Joon (Joon Hee). Although three of the actors well played their characters, Se Hyeok’s character should have been given more importance.

Overall Opinion

This movie is recommendable to those who love k-drama and love the romantic genre only if you are 18+.
