“Beauty Water” is a story of a girl named Yeji, who is mistreated by society by making fun of her appearance. She binge-eats due to stress and depression. She comes across a video on the internet. It is about mysterious water that makes her lose weight. With this loses weight and becomes beautiful, but what she is about to face because of this is far scarier than what she knows.

The Feel-Good Part

This story gives a good message that you should be yourself despite what everyone says. One shouldn’t lose themselves to society’s standards. The horror scenes are also quite good. It keeps the viewers interested.

The Disappointing Factor

The question of whether the animation is good is debatable. Some may not like this kind of animation, especially the ones who watch anime and other animated movies. People who are not much into animation movies might find this style ok.

In-Depth Analysis

Yeji is a makeup artist who works in the fashion industry. She is obese, and the mean and toxic people in the industry make fun of her weight and appearance. She receives an anonymous offer of an elixir that makes her lose weight. She loses a lot of opportunities in life due to her appearance. She gives in to Societal pressure and uses this beautiful water. She looks 20 years younger after using it, but this unknown elixir has some dangerous side effects. The more she uses it, the more she turns into a walking corpse. This is a cautionary tale and it is not suitable for underage as there is violence, murder, and nudity. This movie horrifies what happens when you become too obsessed with beauty.

Star Power

The animation is realistic, and Moon Nam Sook portrayed Yeji’s character well.

Overall Opinion

Overall, this is an enjoyable story with a good story and message along with horror elements. It may be a bit lacking in terms of animation, but it is worth watching.
