Il-Sik, being his client, ask him to Il-Sik’s  mother laugh on her special day.

The Feel-Good Part

Kyeong-Man being forced into a paradox situation and his sister having to stay alone in the funeral without knowing the actual reason, the movie shows how ironic life is at times.

There’s a sweet message that we get to learn, Hard work and burdens of life are not same for everyone, but life continues despite limited understanding and little hope.

The Disappointing Factor

The catharsis arrives preventing the movie to become melodrama when, things reach a boiling point. The narrative lags a bit on this occasion, which is a significant fault here.

In-Depth Analysis

Kyeong-Man being an unknown MC, handle various events along with taking care of his younger sister and unwell father. One day, out of nowhere, he gets to know that his father is no more, and so, he tried to come up with expenses for the funeral, but had no luck. His colleague called him and asked if he’s ready for a job at the countryside. Since, Kyeong-Man was in need of money, he accepted the offer. He visits Samchunpo, for a birthday celebration of an eighty y/o woman and is caught  up there in an unexpected disturbing situation. Whereas, his sister is left alone in the funeral without knowing about his brother.

Star Power

Ha Joon plays an impressive role on his part, with his effort to appear cheerful and his inner struggle due to his occupation being presented rather artfully. The moment in which he erupts is the best part of his performance. Ju-yeon did her part well, as she spent most part of the movie in crying or on the verge.

Overall Opinion

Festival is an amazing movie that manages to make its comment through very intriguing approach which includes quite pointy, subtle and intelligent critique on the ways of modern families of Korea.
