The Legend of Condor Heroes: The Cadaverous Claws is a historical romance movie that falls under the genre of Wuxia. The film was released in 2021. The film tells the story of Mei Ruohua and Huang Yao Shi, and the emotional entanglements between the two. Huang Yao Shi adopted Mei Ruohua while she was a homeless girl, living on the streets, he adopts Mei Chao Feng as an apprentice and names her, Mei Chao Feng. She trained with others at an island as a disciple of Huang Yao Shi. As days went by, Huang Yao Shi starts noticing that Mei Chao Feng harbors feelings for him that goes beyond the relationship between a pupil and master. Huang Yao Shi leaves the island, and returns back after two years. However, much to Mei Chao Feng’s disappointment he returns as a married man. He brings his wife along with him, in addition to his wife, he also brings the half of the Nine Yin Manual.
The Feel-Good Part
The fans of ‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes’ would be delighted to watch this film, as it is a part of the series. The film depicts a teenage girl training as a martial artist, the choreography of those scenes has been done brilliantly and looks great on-screen.
The Disappointing Factor
As a fan of the novel of The Legend of the Condor Heroes, the film was at par and well made, the film stood strongly on the expectations bewildered upon it. Thus, there were not any room for betterment, and disappointment.
In-Depth Analysis
The film depicts the transformation of Mei Chao Feng from a teenage girl to a strong women. The scenes of a heartbroken Mei Chao Feng when her master Huang Yao Shi returns with a pregnant wife, is well acted. The movie takes an interesting turn since the return of Huang Yao Shi. When Mei Chao Feng finds out that Huang Yao Shi came with his wife, in rage, she takes the half of the Nine Yin Manual and elopes with her senior, who was madly in love with her. The events following the incident, makes for a gripping storyline.
Star Power
Yan Ki Kuan plays the role of Huang Yao Shi, Ruan Ju Mei Chao Feng, Tim Huang plays the role of Chen Xuan Feng, and He Chang Xi plays the role of Ouyang Ke. While the supporting cast includes actors such as Xu Zhan Wei, who plays the role of the scarred big guy, Genden Phunstok as Ouyang Feng, Tracy Wang as Feng Heng, Zhang Cheng Hang as Qu Ling Feng, Charles Lin as Yang Kang, Liao Yin Yue as Huang Rong. Actor Liu Han and He Lei played the guest roles.
Overall Opinion
The Legend of Condor Heroes: The Cadaverous Claws is a well-made film that completely justified its origin novel. With a runtime of only 1 hour and 40 minutes, this movie is a must watch even if you are not a fan of The Legend of Condor Heroes series. This film is a treat for all the action genre lovers.
