Drama Digest

Kim is a model student in school. He is very kind-hearted and intelligent, also getting good grades. Contrary to him, his classmate Way is a delinquent, often getting into fights, and is also an ex-gang member. But despite their differences, the two boys are fast friends and are very close.

But this friendship is seen hardly as it is by their juniors, Pan and Soda. Huge fans of Boys-Love fiction, the two best friends like to pretend that the boys are a couple and often write fanfiction about them.

However, the risqué composition is seen by a bully, who taunts the two boys. Not willing to bear any nonsense, Way gets into a fight. However, already on probation for violent behavior, so he gets expelled.

Guilty, Pan confesses to Kim about the story, but he gently offers to give her a ride home. Unfortunately, they both get into an accident on the way home.

Their souls end up in limbo, where they meet the angel of death, Yommathut. She had come to escort both of them to the afterlife; however, she had made a mistake. The two teenagers are not dead yet, so she sends them back to the land of the living.

But in doing so, she switches their bodies, so when Pan wakes up, she finds herself in Kim’s body. She tries her best to blend in as Kim, but his brother Khett is suspicious.

The Feel Good Part

Sometimes predictable, sometimes wildly inappropriate, this series is a jump into the over-the-top fantasies of fujoshi and how much they clash with the real world. In itself, the plot is not unique, but what it does is create a unique premise for the BL genre, with a splash of realism as well.

Be it the two girls gushing at the friendship of the two boys, Kim and Pan’s reaction to being summoned by the Angel of Death, or Pan’s loud “EEEEEH” on realizing she is in the wrong body, or the different misunderstandings created after that, the series makes you cry laughing and your sides ache. Well balanced with the serious scenes, this series has an overall happy atmosphere.

In-Depth Analysis

The characters are typically high school characters, as expected, but the show shows an inner depth to them that sets them apart from the normal stereotypes. This is a laugh riot, but within the jokes and situational comedy, you find out so much about them as people.

This is what makes the show so likable; the characters are everyday people: two crazy fangirls two close friends with opposing characters, jealous girlfriends, and curious brothers. However, there are questions and moments of reflection equally blended within their irrational choices and decisions. Something a lot of people have experienced while growing up.

The show also explores the ever-changing dynamics of friendship and romantic love. After all, what is love, and what is friendship? When does it change? What should you do when you find a soulmate in the friend you deeply care about?

For a rom-com, this show has a rather profound attitude towards relationships. The cheesiness is still there, but it touches your heart and helps you understand yours better.

The Disappointing Factor

The story ends with tragedy. While some would be able to accept it, it might be crushing to a lot of viewers, who might want a better ending. The protagonist also comes off as a bit judgemental sometimes. A lot of relationships are explored in the series, but some might make the audience uncomfortable.

Star Power

The series has a stellar cast. Prigkhing Sureeyares Yakare and Piploy Kanyarat Ruangrung smash it as the BL crazy high school girls. Pusit Dittapisit and Kanaphan Puitrakul are wonderful as best friends Way and Kim, bringing depth and romance to their characters. The supporting cast is great and adds to the general beauty of the series with noteworthy performances.

Overall Opinion

What started as a high school rom-com has turned into one of the best shows to grace our screens recently. It is a good watch and you can invite your friends to laugh and cry while watching it. Be sure to write your fan fiction about the series as well.
