Drama Digest

Yoon-Ari feeds off of human energy until she meets a masked man enter her life and things begin to change. The show is set in the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Feel-Good Part

The show has an extremely short run time of 6 episodes, each clocking in between eight to twelve minutes; this makes it quite easy to watch and requires minimal investment from the audience. The show is set during the pandemic, which is quite intriguing as most shows avoid the pandemic storyline. This could help the audience relate to the characters a lot more as they have experience the pandemic as well. It is fascinating how the show has elements of fantasy while still being grounded in reality with pandemic backdrop. The female protagonist is a really engaging character who may surprise the audience in a good way. The pace of the show is fast, it doesn’t waste time withy filler scenes and unnecessary subplots. The premise of the series and its setting is quite unique, which may entice a lot of viewers to watch the show since it is quite original. The cinematography is great; it makes the show visually appealing, which is quite unexpected for a web drama.

The Disappointing Factor

The fantasy-mythology element of the show is not handled very well as there is a lack of information about the creature depicted in the show. It requires the audience to understand the Korean Cultural Context of the Succubi, which is not possible for viewers. This may confuse viewers and may make the show not as engaging as it could’ve been. There were too many product placements that were added in the series, which may be quite distracting to watch. It takes the viewer out of a potentially immersive viewing experience as it is a fantasy show with too many real-world adverts. There were many instances where the audio was inconsistent, which made a lot of the show inaudible.

In-Depth Analysis

The web drama could have benefited from being a little longer as it would’ve been able to spend time with the world building. It could have explained and executed the mythology aspect with more depth that would have given the story more substance to work with. While the premise is quite original, the execution is what is stopping the show from being truly great. It takes on quite a concept and delivers on it for the most part; it doesn’t have much of re-watch value but it still makes for a decent viewing experience.

Star Power

The female lead was incredible, her performance made the show quite engaging and engaging. The male lead stumbles a bit with his performance, he’s quite emotionless and uninteresting but that might’ve been the requirement of the character. Overall, the performances balance each other out and give viewers an enjoyable experience.

Overall Opinion

Touch Me If You Can makes for a good one time watch as it is light-hearted and easy-going. It doesn’t require too much of the viewers’ time. It is easy to overlook the shortcomings of the show one you get into the flow of the show as its quite enjoyable with its original premise.
