What happens when the two little minxes plead with their mother to bag a wealthy man who can give them a comfortable life and put an end to all their financial problems? Watch this delightful series to find out more about all the chaos that ensues once this family-expansion venture begins.

The Feel-Good Part

This is a series that spans over a hundred episodes, and when it comes to k-dramas that are as long as this one, you do expect to get bored or leave watching midway. However, Mom Has An Affair counts as an exception to that. The series is incredibly intriguing and the screenwriters manage to keep the viewer hooked with solid doses of drama, with the elements of betrayal, blackmail, deception, and the like. With an incredible cast who deliver convincing performances and a script that features humorously written dialogues, this series is an emotional rollercoaster that leaves you feeling a dozen emotions all within the duration of one episode.

The Disappointing Factor

The series starts weak but gradually picks pace and then again turns towards mediocrity as it nears its end. There are a few glaring plotholes, and you can easily predict the ending. Something that gets tiring is the villain’s constant scheming and her one-dimensional personality. The on-screen chemistry between the lead pair also feels a little lukewarm at many places.

In-Depth Analysis

Mom Has An Affair illustrates the ruthless class divide that exists in capitalistic societies, albeit exaggerating at several places. The punchlines are funny and the actors deliver strong performances that keep you intrigued. It does not fall back into the tiring cycle of weekly breakups that are characteristic to protagonists of k-dramas as long as this one. The screenwriters use plot devices to keep the story going, and sometimes things get a tad bit too dramatic, but it is entertaining to watch.

There are a few evisent shortcomings, like the lack of chemistry between the lead pair, the impracticality of several scenes, the predictability, and a few storylines that felt quite inconclusive.

Star Power

The entire cast comprises strong actors, and Hyun Ju-Ni deserves additional praise for her strong performance.

Overall Opinion

If you are willing to watch a series longer than the staple k-drama and are looking to be entertained and not be too critical a viewer, this one is for you.
