Drama digest

The K-pop group named Tea Party is given life by Ji Hak, the CEO of JH entertainment. Earlier, he worked as the manager of SHAX, which is a renowned boy group. Lee Ma Ha, a member of the Tea Party, previously belonged to the group Omega III. Ironically, the group collapsed on their debut day itself due to unfortunate circumstances. Then, Lee Ma Ha has a new lease of life with the Tea Party. Lee Ma Ha gains the spotlight suddenly, and she uses her La Ri-ma recognition that she received by impersonating the solo singer La Ri-ma. (to get the needed attention to Tea Party). She frequently meets Kwon Ryeok, whom she develops an interest in though they didn’t like each other initially. Watch the series to know how it unfolds.

The feel-good part

Due to it being a drama about K-pop idols, the music should be amazing. The show does justice to music to some extent. While some songs are heart-moving, some are pleasant to the ears.

The disappointing factor

There were some lackluster scenes in the series and also some plot holes. Besides, there was no logic in some of the scenes. The series gives a picture that it was rushed during the later stage.

In-depth analysis

Imitation, which is an adaptation of a webtoon sharing the same name, gives a picture of the lives of the k-pop artists. It concentrates on the romance as well as the happenings in the couple’s lives. That said, the love story becomes highly predictable over time. Besides, though the presentation of the entire music show was excellent, the drama has sloppy pacing.

The drama has a plethora of real-life k-pop idols. Their chase to the top position by battling hardships is the crux of the series.

Star power

Jung Ji-so and Lee Jun-young are both talented stars, and a lot was expected from them. Concerning Jung Ji-so, she does a commendable job in dancing more than acting. Since her characterization had holes, she was not given much chance to exhibit her talents. Lee Jun-young gives a pretty ordinary performance. Jeong Yun-ho also struggled to play her role to perfection because her character was not conceptualized properly. In her supporting role, La Ri Ma outshines others. The way her character progresses in the series is outstanding.

Overall opinion

There is no doubt that the drama touches on some intense issues in the K-pop industry. This should be appreciated. However, it could have concentrated more on the plot and the development of the characters.
