“Hoshi Shinichi no Fushigina Fushigina Tapen Dorama” also known as “Hoshi Shinichi’s Wondrous and Mysterious Short Dramas” is a Japanese short drama series based on the famous writer Hoshi Shinichi who is a Japanese novelist and science fiction writer. He is well known for writing short stories which are only three to four pages long and is known as the “God of Short stories”. He has published around 1001 short stories in his lifetime. Most of them are now included in textbooks. He won the Mystery Writers of Japan Award in 1968.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama is an excellent way of safekeeping those valuable short stories we received from the late Hoshi Shinichi. He contributed some of his best works in short stories that are rare to find today. This drama will expose people to his works which are unknown to most people. The stories, being interesting in themselves, make the drama adaptation even better. His stories have elements of humor, mystery, and sci-fi all blended. His stories are witty and intensive and provoke the thought process. The science fiction series takes place in the futuristic world, giving us a gist of what he assumed about the future in the early days and how accurate it is. It also tackles some timely social issues. The execution of the stories in 15 minutes is fun and interesting to watch.

This drama showcases Hoshi Shinichi’s short stories in episode form and as a live-action adaptation. His stories include most elements of science fiction and fantasy. It includes cosmic space, demons, and robots. The stories have both a humorous and cynical take on society and humankind. Although short, the stories are full of surprises and unpredictability. The 20 episodes of the show featured 20 different short stories, with each story having a deep meaning.

Star Power

The show picked some of the best Japanese actors which include- Mizuhara Kiko, Nagayama Eita, Hayashi Kento, Kora Kengo, Kitayama Hiromitsu, and Tamashiro Tina. All of them did a remarkable job telling people the stories that Hoshi wrote in the early 20th century.

Overall Opinion

This is an excellent show that everyone should watch. The present-day world should know of Hoshi Shinichi’s excellent presence and his brilliant contribution to the world of short stories. He is a remarkable writer that will leave an imprint in history forever. This show is simply mind-blowing and excellently executed.
