Drama Digest

The Line Watchers plot is based on top-tier customs officers who are part of the new “Smart Customs” program. Amidst personal misfortunes, this group of officers overcomes challenges that come with their duties, thus maintaining the integrity and prosperity of Hong Kong.

The Feel-Good Part

The best thing about the series is the individual commitment the characters have toward their duty. The way they showcase their dedication to their duty towards the country is commendable and inspiring. The characters are always ready to go all out no matter what the situation is, and stick to the motto “Serve the Community with Commitment and Excellence.”

The Disappointing Factor

The mention of various elite customs departments is sometimes confusing as it is challenging to keep track. Even though the cast of this series is good, the plot is more or less the same as other similar career-based Asian dramas with a twist of romance.

In-Depth Analysis

The narrative revolves around the Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau Senior Superintendent Benjamin Yuen, Trade Controls Officer Mandy Wong, and Customs Drug Investigation Bureau Superintendent Venus Wong leading a group of officers. From nuclear bombs to drugs, they are on duty across the land, sea, and sky as the flag bearers of the new “Smart Customs” program.

Star Power

The casting of The Line Watchers has attractive personalities in the lead roles, which naturally draws in a large audience. All the six lead actors nail their roles and bring justice to their characters in the drama. Personally, Benjamin Yuen and Carlos Chan were my favorites, alongside Venus Wong.

Overall Opinion

The Line Watchers is an interesting action drama, fun to watch for one-time entertainment. It would have been a much better series if the makers did not drag unnecessary romance between the characters. Most of the time it feels very forced which could have been substituted with action sequences.
