Drama Digest:

The drama is based on a northern kingdom where Liu Jing, the daughter of a powerful official, is forced to take the princess’s identity to marry Yuwen Yong, the king of Zhou, who holds no power. But is he really a puppet figurehead, or there is something more? Watch the drama to know how the story unravels.

The Feel-Good Part:

This drama shows how the emperor is suffering physically and emotionally even though he holds power and position. It also depicts how some of his subordinates care for him. In this role, Merxat is perfect with both emotional and romantic scenes. One of the best aspects of this drama is a bright and talented yet mischievous female lead. She helps Emperor Wu and also works hard to fulfill her dreams. The story is not only focused on the main lead’s romance but also shows how the environment around him is poisoning him and Jing Er is helping him to achieve his goal as well as hers. Besides, the show is not at all draggy which makes it watchable and digestible. The other couple is also promising.

The Disappointing Factor:

Though the drama has a good plot and acting is also very good but for some viewers, ‘Sad ending’ can be a disappointing factor. In some last episodes, the drama becomes angsty and the story leads to a sad ending. It may be an indication of a second season, and those who are accustomed to watching sad ending drama may not be a big factor but those who don’t like tragedy might not like the end.

In-Depth Analysis:

This drama has a perfect balance between politics and fluff. This makes viewers relax while watching. Both the main leads and supporting casts are also very good in their role. The chemistry between the leads is worthy of appreciation. This drama also portrays a girl’s dream and her effort to fulfill her wish along with her duty. This show also depicts that though you are surrounded by power your life may not be beautiful. Another positive point of this drama is its low number of episodes which makes the drama easy to watch. The OSTs are soothing.

Star Power:

Gong Mi as Jing Er and Yalkun Merxat as Emperor Wu have performed well in their roles. Merxat is perfect for both emotional and romantic scenes.

Overall Opinion:

This drama is good for passing the time with sweet chemistry along with political problems based on historical genre. Those who are not worried about a tragic ending can surely give it a try, it would not make you regret but those who hate watching tragedy should avoid this.
