Drama Digest

Shang Gu is the only one with pure essence energy and the leader of the four accurate immortals in the ancient world. She opted to sacrifice herself 60,000 years ago due to a trial and fell into a deep sleep. She reappears differently as the High Immortal of Qingchi Palace. Although she has the status of a high immortal, her abilities are limited. She also lacks her memories, in addition to her prior persona and powers.

On the other hand, her former lover, Bai Jue, never forgot about her. He was the one who waited for her for 60,000 years and selflessly sacrificed his rebirth for her everlasting life. She swears to stay for him indefinitely once his soul vanishes.

The Feel-Good Part

Ancient Love Poetry’s most powerful feature is its story. It takes a detour from the Heavenly World, focusing on the lives of the Ancient Gods, the most impactful beings in all of the Frontiers, which was a new experience for me. The events and mysteries unfold at a threatening and nerve-wracking pace. After a certain point, the plot takes a sharp shift, but it does not feel disjointed and maintains smooth functioning.

The Disappointing Factor

The first few episodes are pretty entertaining, with incredible CGI. Then it gets a little draggy with a lot of consideration, playing out the relationship development, which I find a little tiresome. In the first ten episodes, as the characters take root, Eventually, around episode 16, the second story starts, bringing in the births of the in-between gods and new characters. They and their connection were initially disconcerting. As the story progresses, more clarity arises. The pace then quickens. The second half of the film is delightful. The story gets more intriguing as the villain becomes more potent by the day and eventually becomes a substantial evil force.

In-Depth Analysis

The plot is sentimental, but it is also advantageous and extraordinary in every way. The story had an excellent outcome. Until the end, you will be taken on a magnificent and emotional roller coaster. All of the directions and writing are superb. Among Xianxia dramas, the cinematography and CGI are unquestionably the greatest. The action sequences and visual effects are impressive. Everything is on track, and the tale never drags or rushes. It occurs just when it is necessary.

Star Power

Shang gu or Hou chi, as Zhou Dong yu would say. The most powerful of the four truthful gods, and the one brought into the world of chaos. She decided to fall asleep after being martyred sixty thousand years ago due to the implementation of turmoil. In the post-ancient era, she is the goddess of Hou chi in Qingchi Palace.

Xu kai bai jue, Bai Xuan. For nearly 200,000 years, he has secretly loved Shang Gu as one of the four real gods of the ancient world. Shang Gu stops her at the final moment of her crucifixion, calms the turmoil, and spends 40,000 years recovering her spirit.

Overall Opinion

This drama is a fantastic series of self-sacrificial love. The acting is superb, and the production and setting are excellent. It’s directed by the same person who referred Love and Mercy, so it looks authentic and delightful.
