Drama Digest

Solomon no Gisho (ソロモンの偽証) is the latest Japanese remake of the South Korean drama series Solomon’s Perjury (2016). It came out on the television screens from the 3rd of October, 2021, to the 21st of November. Under the direction of Gonno Hajime and written for the screens by Shinozaki Eriko, it spans over eight episodes. It recounts the story of a teenage high school girl trying to find solutions and avenge the death of her close friend, who is concluded to have died by suicide.

The Feel-Good Part

Since the series centers around a murder investigation, it becomes interesting for the fans and witnesses the thrill ensuing after the letter enters Shunji’s doorstep. Moreover, the reveal of the perpetrator is not till the last episode, which raises one’s heartbeat and excitement.

The Disappointing Factor

One of the disappointing aspects of Solomon no Gisho is that even after being released 5 years later than its precedent, it has nothing significant to offer. Further, the cinematography of the Japanese version appears a little visually darker than the original South Korean series.

In-DepthAnalysis

Adapted from the novel by Miya Miyuki, Solomon no Gisho talks about the structural issues at hand. It shed light on the events that caused the death of Takuya. Without caring for anyone, the school authorities try their best to close the case to protect their image. A day after discovering his body, Shunji receives a letter stating it was a murder. She travels to court and demands justice for her only friend with no one to believe. The drama highlights the prevalent corruption and power of the elite classes.
