Article: Top 10 Korean Drama With Courtroom Scenes

The list that I have made doesn't just include legal dramas there are also dramas of other genres with great courtroom scenes in them. The legal system is an integral part of the society and also makes an intriguing story. The dramas below are my favourites and I hope they become yours too.

1. Extraordinary Lawyer Woo

The Story is of a Korean Lawyer with autism. The story progresses as all of us fall in love with Woo Yeong Woo. Her quirks entertain us while her struggles pains us. Although all the courtroom scenes till now in this drama are great, the best for me was when she yelled out objection… something which was very hard for her to do.

2. Why Her?

This drama is a story about a young man who fell in love with the defense attorney who agreed to fight for him and said that she believed him. Years later he again meets her but this time as a student of the law School where she is a Professor. She is completely different from the woman in his memory and he is determined to find out why that is. My favourite courtroom scene here would be the one which is the first hearing of the male lead where he stands as the défendent.

3. Military Prosecutor Doberman

An insight into the world of the Korean Armed Forces and the only people with the power to prosecute them if they step out of the line of law. The story of two military Prosecutors with a connected past and the same person as their target of revenge. My favourite courtroom scene would be the one where the male lead enters the courtroom clearly now agreeing to work with the female lead whose proposal he had rejected before.

4. Law School

A group of desperate students all of whom want to have a career in the legal system of Korea. All of them have their stories that shaped who they have become and the story of how they become one team in the face of a common adversary. It's a very inspiring drama and my best courtroom scene according to me was the one where one female student finally stands up for herself and defends herself pulling herself out of the guilt that she was feeling for hurting her boyfriend who had blackmailed her, assaulted her and more.

5. Lawless Lawyer

This drama was one which made me feel a variety of emotions and the best scene was when the female lead punched the sexist judge for his clear and obvious wrong judgement. The drama has thrill, romance and let's face it the main reason for watching it would clearly be the charismatic male lead.

6. While You Were Sleeping

The story of a girl who has premonitions of danger in her dreams but she is never able to save the people from the accidents she foresees, somehow they always end up taking place. She believes that she is one of a kind until she meets a few people like her. The best courtroom scene here would be the one where the male lead puts on a cute act to help a kid testify in court, very unusual but truly amusing.

7. Suspicious Partner

This drama is truly one of my favourite dramas, it was one of those dramas that made me fall utterly and completely in love with this universe of Korean dramas. The chemistry between the leads is amazing and so is the comic timing of all the actors but don't let that fool you into believing it's a comedy. The leads are trying to apprehend a killer who has killed many. The best courtroom scene for me here was the one where the male lead refused to compromise with his principles and withdrew from prosecuting the female lead who was being even though that took away his job.

8. Ms. Hammurabi

The story of a female judge fighting so that justice would prevail. She is questioned numerous times for her empathy but she refuses to let go of it. Even though every case shown gives us some insight into the character the best scene truly would be the one where she fights for a woman who is a victim of domestic violence and kills her husband in self defence.

9. Judge Vs. Judge

A female judge with a short temper is the lead of the story. A judge with a moral compass she doesn't back down from what she believes is right. Soon she meets someone who, though cold and aloof, has the same sense of justice as hers. However everything is not sunshine and rainbows for this duo as something from the female lead's past comes back to haunt them. The best courtroom scene would be the one where the female lead looses her temper when a rapist tries to justify himself by categorising what he did as sex education and not sexual assault.

10. The Devil Judge

You should just watch this drama for the two male leads who clearly are more than friends but the script doesn't allow them to accept it. It's truly an amazing drama especially with the cute niece added in the mix. The best scene would obviously be the unusual courtroom of the Devil Judge.
