They are so busy making a better place for the world that they forget about themselves and sacrifice all they have for the good. Sometimes, it is their own life, and sometimes, it's the life of someone they would love to death. But that's why the audience calls them heroes or saviors because they would leave no stone unturned for the greater good. Such commendable heroes or anime characters exist in the Anime world, too, who have sacrificed all they had to save humanity or contribute to a similar cause. Here, we will talk about great anime characters who earned respect when they sacrificed their loved ones for the greater good.
1. Mikasa (Attack On Titan)
Mikasa is a loved character who is appreciated for her unconditional love towards the series' protagonist, Eren. Eren started the journey of AOT with a clean heart and intentions. He just wanted to take down the entire Titan race for the sake of humans within the wall's society. As the show proceeds, the bitter reality is unveiled, exposing the truth of people outside the walls who wanted to crush the subject of Amir, the people within the wall society, and thus he hatched a plot to wipe them off the globe. He cleverly planned to initiate Rambling and wipe out humanity beyond the paradise island by manipulating the Amir herself. Mikasa unconditionally loved her, but she was the one who needed to stop her, even if it meant killing the only love of her life, Eren.
2. Kenshin (Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal)
Kenshi is a character in the Samurai series. He lost his first wife, who intentionally bore the opponent's attack during a fierce battle. Her first wife's name was Tomoe. The original plan of Tomoe was to take revenge for her death finance. She enacted as a bait to lure Kenshin into a mindful trap. She entered his life for the sake of revenge. Still, as soon as she discovers the other side of Kenshin and his true personality, she soon begins to have a soft corner for him, and thus, she sacrifices herself at a crucial moment to save Kenshin's life.
3. Ichigo (Tokyo Mew Mew)
Ichigo's sole mission was to protect her planet from the invaders who were residents of other worlds. The mastermind of these invaders was Kish, who initially took Ichigo as her rival and a toy with whom he could easily play. As the story progresses, he soon begins to develop possessive feelings for her, and at the crucial moment when Deep Blue is wide awake, and Ichigo's life is in danger, he sacrifices his life for the sake of Kish. Kish was saved with the help of Mew Aqua at the very end.
4. Misa (Death Note)
Every anime fan is aware of the legendary anime Death Note. There is a character, Misa, who sometimes seems foolish as she is easily played at the hands of Light, but all through her foolishness, Rem stays with her all along. She helps her in every way she can, and at the very crucial point, she is played in the hands of Light Yagami and sacrifices her life for the sake of Misa. She writes the names of her potential killers in the notebook to save Misha's future.
5. Team Dai-Gurren (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann)
When Team Dai-Gurrne were trapped to death by an anti-spiral, they were rescued only by the means of sacrifice of Kittan. He gave his life in the process of destroying the Death Spiral Machine. From the very beginning, he knew that he wouldn't be able to make it out alive if he continued his mission to the destruction of the machine. He did so for the survival of the team members, and when the war was wrapped up, he was admired by every member for his act of bravery.
6. Queen Serenity (Sailor Moon)
Queen Serenity was brave. She did her level best to get rid of the evils of the dark kingdom, but it was too late, and she sacrificed her life to bring back the lives of princesses and princes. She offered her life for their reincarnation. Her last wish was for the betterment of Moon's kingdom and the prosperous life of the prince and princess.
7. Endeavor (My Hero Academia)
Endeavor was known widely for sacrificing his only child's Childhood when he saw his son's quirk. He persuaded him to train himself to death.
8. L (Death Note)
L is an excellent detective from the Death Note series who has instructed his servant that if he dies, his servant Watari must delete all the notes to block Light Yagami from accessing them. L knew this work might put his truth-worthy companion in great danger.
9. Erwin Smith (Attack On Titan)
Erwin Smith was a good leader and commander who knew the meaning of true victory. When the survey corps tried to capture the wall destroyed by Titans in the first season, the beast Titan tricked them. He orders his entire leftover squad, who weren't fully trained, to launch an attack over Titans without any shield. He knew there was no way to survive it, and thus, he sacrificed the life of the entire squad as bait against beast Titan so that Levi could bring the enemy to their knees.
10. Levi (AOT)
When the entire wall society was in terror of the female Titan, Levi sacrificed the squad's life to defend Eren. He could have defeated the female Titan by himself if he wanted, but he let others die while fighting her. He didn't let Eren help the squad avoid any risk of putting Eren into a state of threat to others.
