You must have heard many stories about how k-pop idols debuted and became famous after years of training. But have you heard of k-pop idols that never wanted to be k-pop idols or didn’t want to do what they are doing today, who never dreamt of becoming a k-pop idol, who never thought they would make it this big? Here are ten k-pop idols who debuted accidentally or were scouted unexceptionally but are shining so brightly Today.
1. V (BTS)
V is a member of the world’s biggest boy band, BTS. He never thought of auditioning for any entertainment industry, nor did he want to be a k-pop idol. He went to support his friend at the audition, but the staff asked V to give an audition. He passed the audition for Bighit entertainment and debuted as a member of BTS. Today he is capturing the hearts of millions of people and is an inspiration for millions of people. Had he not come with his friend that day, and would not have got such a talented idol.
2. Sana (Twice)
Sana is currently a member of the girl group Twice. JYP Entertainment’s casting director cast Sana when she was shopping with her friends. Sana was in middle school when she started training for JYP. She trained as a JYP trainee for three years before her debut as a member twice. Sana is one of the three Japanese members of the group who didn’t even know Korean then. Sana passed the audition, and today she is a very successful idol living her dream life.
3. Ryunjin (Itzy)
Ryunjin is a member of a girl group called Itzy under JYP Entertainment. She scouted at a time everyone was busy watching their idols, but destiny had something different for her. She was attending GOT7 Concert when a JYP scout approached her. Scout contacted Ryunjin, and she passed the audition. Ryunjin debuted as a member of Itzy after training for four years.
4. Sehun (EXO)
Sehun is a member of a very famous group called EXO. Sehun is a rapper, singer, actor, model, songwriter, and dancer but have you ever wondered whether he always dreamed of being a singer or dancer? No. He never did, even when SM Entertainment tried to scout him in school. Scout asked for Sehun’s contact details; he ran away, and the recruiter chased him for 30 minutes. He gave the contact details of her mother, auditioned for SM Entertainment, and passed the audition at the age of 12. He is the youngest member of EXO and a very successful actor too.
5. Taemin (SHINee)
Taemin is a member of Shinee, formed by SM Entertainment in 2008. Taemin never wanted to be an idol. He interviewed for SM Entertainment because he didn’t like to attend tutoring. He passed the audition in the first trial and debuted as a member of SHINee. After years of debuting, they also earned the title of prince of k-Pop.
6. Eunwoo (Astro)
Cha Eunwoo is a very famous member of Astro. He is known for his fantastic acting and dancing skills. Eunwoo never wanted to be an idol. He always wished to be a doctor. There was a festival in school when a scout approached Eunwoo in front of the toilet. He was just in high school then. Today he is known for his unique vocals, and heart-throbbing acting skills. Eunwoo is a fantastic actor, along with being a member of Astro. He has done different dramas and movies which captured millions of hearts.
7. Jaemin (NCT)
NCT’S Jaemin was scouted in 2013 while volunteering with her mother. He was helping her mother and never knew his volunteering would turn him into a successful idol. The scout asked Jaemin to give an audition on the street. He auditioned for SM Entertainment, passed the audition, and debuted as a member of NCT in January 2016. Jaemin was called “Bong Kae,” which means “volunteering casting” in Korean. He is very accommodating and loves volunteering.
8. Suzy (Miss A)
You must have heard a lot about Bae Suzy’s acting skills, but did you know she was a member of group MISS A under JYP Entertainment? There is a fascinating story behind her debut. She was auditioning for Mnet’s superstar K. She went to the washroom, which changed her life. The scout asked her to skip the Mnet audition, and after ten months of training, she debuted as MISS A. Suzy is very successful as an actress. Today she is the crush of not only Koreans but many people around the world.
9. Taeyong (NCT)
NCT’s Taeyong never wanted to be an idol. He knew nothing about k-pop. He was approached by SM Entertainment on the streets when told that scout was from one of the top 3 companies; he thought they were talking about KBS and SBS. Taeyong didn’t give any answers to the scout. Scout approached again with toast which made Taeyong believe that the scout was a good person, and Taeyong gave an audition at SM Entertainment. If scout hadn’t convinced him, Taeyong would never join NCT. We wouldn’t have got such a talented idol.
10. Mark Lee
Mark lee is also one of the members who never wanted to be an idol. Just like V of BTS, he went with his brother to support his brother; the staff asked him to give an audition. He gave the audition and passed. He debuted as a member of NCT in 2016 after training for two years. Mark Lee is a very well-known rapper, singer, and songwriter. Mark lee was born and bought up in Canada but is of Korean descent.
