Anime Digest

Yuukoku no Moriarty Part 2 is a Japanese anime series that is alternatively known as Moriarty the Patriot Season 2. Yuukoku no Moriarty Part 2 was released on 2021 and is the second part of Yuukoku no Moriarty, which was released on 2020 and consisted of 24 episodes. The plotline of the second part revolves around the British Empire, where a “Lord of Crime” rises for the cause of the downfall of nobles who rule over the poor ones. ‘Lord of Crime’ aims to create a new society without the oppression of the poor. ‘Lord of Crime’ consists of William James Moriarty, along with two of his brothers, namely, Albert and Louis. Detective Sherlock Holmes, along with his partner John H. Watson is the other side of the same coin who seeks justice and shares the same objective as Lord of Crime. However, these two sides do not get along and hence starts a game of cat and mouse. Within these two opposite groups of people, a woman who is acquainted with both sides comes into the picture, named Irene Adler.

The Feel-Good Part

Yuukoku no Moriarty Part 2 is a gift for the viewers who had already watched the 1st part. As the 1st part ended on a cliff-hanging, the second part was anticipated, and undoubtedly, the second part stood on the expectations of the viewers. The war of wits between the two strong characters of Sherlock Holmes and Lord of Crime is very entertaining to watch. With each opposing sides trying to outwit each other, it makes a rather gripping scene for the viewers. The character development is remarkable, and the newly added characters in part 2 justifies in the storyline.

The Disappointing Factor

One of the significant disappointing factors of this series is that it is pretty short, as there was a lot of potential storylines to be told, but only 13 episodes doesn’t justify the plotline. The pace of the series is a little too fast.

In-Depth Analysis

The storyline of the anime is pretty good, and the plot twist and turns do help keep the viewers seated. Though the twist and turns are not very astonishing it does the job. The art style of the anime is remarkable, along with its soundtrack. The storyline depicts two conflicts simultaneously, one between Sherlock and Lord of Crimes and the other between the underprivileged and the unruly nobles. The most well-directed aspect of this series is that the timeline, even though it is historical, still connects with the modern age.

Star Performance

Shizuka Ishigami voiced the character of William James Moriarty, Makato Furukawa voiced for the character of Sherlock Holmes, Takuya Satou voiced for the character of Albert James Moriarty, Nao Touyama voiced for the character of Louis James Moriarty, and Youko Hikasa voiced for the character of Irene Adler. The supporting cast includes actors such as Yuuto Uemura, and Satoshi Hino, among many others.

Overall Opinion

The storyline, art style, soundtrack, and characters of the anime are pretty incredible. This is a must-watch anime series that will indeed grip you until the end. If you haven’t watched the first part, then I would suggest watching the first part beforehand as the story continues from the first part.
