Drama Digest

The Story takes place in Tokyo’s imaginary “Akatsuki special ward,” established as a “lawless” autonomous state after the Akatsuki uprising overthrew the ward’s corporate owners. Helios, Artemis, and the Public Safety Bureau keep the supervision in order by employing “Scared” agents. These operatives have sacred tattoos that give them the ability to deflect any bullet or blade, making them highly resistant.

 The Feel-Good Part

The storyline is relatively representative, but the tattoo system, while implemented before, is employed unconventionally in this drama. The tattoo naming system is quite generic, but it is used efficiently. I really like the concept of the Story.

The Disappointing Factor

The characters are uninteresting, and the plot is incredibly dull. I didn’t feel anything while watching it. Also, I don’t recall seeing any character development; they were all relatively flat. For me, the voices don’t fit the characters, and I can’t focus on the plot since there’s too much “distinctive style” mixed in with the 3D surroundings. The backdrops also have the issue of being considerably too stiff. When Minato sits down on the bed, he can see examples of this issue. Typically, the upper sheet of fabric should be affected when one sits down, but the bed in the backdrop that the character sits on does not move. The Story also brings some time to flesh out the circumstances of the exceptional zone, familiarize each faction, and signify a story forced by the initiatives, passions, and situations of the mains and support cast.

In-Depth Analysis

There are some decent characters on both sides, good and evil. As a result, the show is better than it appears. Featuring a group known as Helios, those who protect the city, focusing on one specific hero who saves the town of Eiji, as he passes on his legacy and tattoo to another in Kai, as he tries to adjust to everything the power that these tattoos have. These tattoos contain imprisoned beasts, each of which is unique in its own way. On the one hand, you have those within Helios, and on the other, you have those called Artemis, who are there to keep things safe. As Kai is forced into the middle of it all, he wants to fulfil Eiji’s dying words and safeguard the town/city.

Star Power

Kai has a good personality and appears to genuinely want to help others. In Kouga, a corrupt-appearing law enforcement officer whom you get the impression has a deeper, sinister objective.

Overall Opinion

Suppose you can overlook the show’s minor shortcomings and enjoy the distinctive art direction and style. In that case, Project Scared is an anime worth watching, if only for the action sequences and the superb camera work and special effects. I genuinely believe that this anime has more potential and should be given more opportunities to showcase it.
