Anime Digest

Mirai Kakehashi is a young man who is by himself on the day of his junior high graduation ceremony while his classmates enjoy themselves. However, he sees an angel. Mirai now understands that he has to participate in a battle where the victor becomes the new god of the world. There are 12 other God candidates. Although he has an angel on his side, Mirai may have to turn evil to survive.

The Feel Good Part

Platinum End, like Death Note, contains a brilliantly written “protagonist vs antagonist” dichotomy. The idea sounds terrific, but it needs to go on the right path.

The Disappointing Factor

Comparable to other psychological thrillers of its type, its premise and execution are mediocre. Despite these flaws, the anime contains brilliantly written characters, but the ensemble doesn’t gel together well due to the lack of direction.

In-Depth Analysis

The story looks original and keeps the thriller element while offering us a bloody fighting period. It is entertaining to witness scenes like when the God contenders went berserk and battled to the death. Warning: there are spoilers ahead. The purpose of the whole thing is now a mystery to the viewers. If all of these people would die in the end, what use was it to watch them go through such a tough battle? You have a cold, empty feeling after watching Platinum End.

Star Power

The voice actors do great justice to the characters.

Overall Opinion

The first season had one of the most convoluted, shoddy-written narratives that an anime has ever generated.
