Drama Digest

November 23, 1957, is a day the world will never forget. A day when the Federal Republic of Zimitra achieved the impossible by sending the first live animal—a dog—to space. With this one act, countries now race against competing countries to send a human into space. However, there is no way of ensuring a human would survive in space like a dog since they are different species. While searching for a solution, the Zimitra government provides a solution; send vampires to space. Vampires are biologically significant to humans. The first test subject of this experiment is Irina Luminesk. Together with her human companion Lev Leps, the two will travel out of this world and into the darkness of space, developing a close love and bringing themselves closer to each other. What will happen to our beloved heroes? What does space hold for them? Watch the drama and find out.

The Feel-Good Part

This anime is just unique all around. Starting with visuals, there is great beauty and visual appeal that comes with this anime. It looks beautiful and feels fantastic to watch. The show also talks about so many historical events in a fictionalized story. The story is witty, intelligent, and lighthearted, with a touch of romance that makes it all tie in perfectly. The characters brighten your day with a story of two outcasts in space.

The Disappointing Factor

Since there is a lot of focus on the social, geopolitical, and technological aspects, the show does not become an excellent space adventure. Suppose you are looking for one with a more significant focus on a space adventure, then maybe this show is not for you. The mistreatment of Irina throughout the show can feel a bit overwhelming and too indisputable, so if that makes you uncomfortable, you may not come to enjoy this show.

In-Depth Analysis

This show is a giant metaphor for several topics such as space travel, the Soviet Union, CIA experimentations, propaganda, and so much more. Whether it waters down these real-life political issues is up to the viewer to decide.

Star Power

Megumi Hayashibara plays Irina. She delivers a fantastic performance and a natural human touch to this fictional character. She has also starred in several anime, such as the Pokemon movies, Detective Conan movies, and many more. Kouki Uchiyama plays Leps Lev. Aside from his boyish charm and ambition, Kouki Uchiyama adds a special touch to this character. He has also starred in several popular anime, including Boku No Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and many more.

Overall Opinion

The anime has a great concept and an incredible story. There are a ton of possibilities with this series, and it will be nice to see how it progresses. It is something to check out and learn a lot about.
