Drama Digest

Seri Koyuki is a high school student trying his best to live a normal school life until he catches the attention of Kabuto Hanadori, a delusional high school student. Hanadori fantasizes that he is a knight on a mission further explaining that if he removes his eyepatch, it would unleash his darker alter ego, also referring to himself as Michael Offenbarung Dunkelheit. Seri tries his best to not pay any heed to Hanadori but loses his self-restraint at times.

The Feel-Good Part

A destructive God sit next to me is pretty chill and relaxed Anime. It’s a slapstick comedy and heavily relied on the characters reactions and emphasised on their expressions to make it more humorous. Many would find this show very silly and clumsy and I don’t blame them because I couldn’t see a drop of seriousness in the entire Series. It had a captivating visual style and awesome characters. Even though each and every cast played an important role in the fun factor, we can’t deny that Seri, Utsugi and Kabuto stole the show.

The Disappointing Factor

Despite being a 1 cour Anime, parts of it felt boring, I feel because how most of the jokes were executed which became repetitive overtime. Also, I hate how manipulative Tsukimiya can be which causes Seri to land into troubles.

In-Depth Analysis

The Anime is about how a student named as Kabuto Hanadori believes that he has been reborn as Strumhurt, a legendary warrior, and he needs to capture the soul of Miguel who is an evil demon. He further believes that Seri is his fellow companion, Gestober, reborn. Seri doesn’t want to indulge in his non sense and tries his best to keep distance but fails to do so. Seri’s problems get more complicated when Kabuto’s childhood friend Utsugi Tsukimiya (a dominant manipulator), also gets involved in his school life. Seri tries his best to remain calm and not get involved in all these, but his patience become an everyday struggle.

Star Power

Directed by Atushi Nigorikawa; Takahiro Sakurai, Jun Fukuyama, Ai Kayano were the leading cast and did a great job at voicing which fitted the characters really well.

Overall Opinion

It’s overall a light hearted show and a definitely a hidden gem which is worth to look for.
