Movie Digest

Wish Dragon is a produced by Jackie Chan and directed by Chris Appelhans. Din, an ambitious kid who longs to reunite with his childhood best friend, Li Na, comes across a peculiar old man in the story. Din receives a teapot from the old man, through which he encounters a wish-granting dragon who reveals him the possibilities of magic.

The Feel Good Part

This film is referred to a 21st century Chinese rendition of “Aladdin” where Din, a hardworking college student, meets a wish dragon who granted him three wishes in order to find his childhood friend Lina, who is living a life of luxury. The animation in the film is lively and vibrant, and the characters are all highly expressive. The film showed a good sense of humor and the chemistry between the protagonists, Din and Li Na, is extremely entertaining. The film also sheds light on socioeconomic position through interpreting “Money Can’t Buy Love.” This is an excellent example of how to make animated films the right manner in today’s world, and Sony Pictures Animation has done a terrific job.

The Disappointing Factor

The premise of the film was very cliché, and the concept shown is a little farfetched for children. The plot was mostly a counterfeit from “Aladdin,” but it also had its own twist on the story.

In-Depth Analysis

With a felt good vibrations and emotional touch, the film caught the audience’s heart. This Film is especially relevant to Long’s character arc and the central notion. Although the characters have one-sided personas, they mirror how Asians interact with one another. It feels completely at home, although those who reside in the west may not recognize the Asian vibe. It’s a typical ordinary picture with a generic lesson for both kids and adults, but if the story and character development are well-executed, one’s wish for a flawless lesson might just be granted.

Overall Opinion

Wish Dragon is a fun Family and Kids movie, with a little cliché and heartfelt plot. The humor and action in this film is quite balanced. And the chemistry between the leads was pretty interesting. The movie has its own charm in the end, which is a must try. Now streaming on Netflix
