Movie Digest

It is a story of friends. Makoto (Mackenyu Arata) and his best friend Kida ( Takanori Iwata) work in an auto shop. When one day a rich woman, Lisa (Anne Nakamura) visits their shop for car repair as she had hit a dog and the car belonged to her father. As she was willing to pay a payment, the shop owner accepted the job. Makoto falls in love with Lisa but Lisa rejects his advances. he realizes she’s from a different world and that he’ll need to earn a lot to get into her world. Soon he quits his current job and disappears for 2 years.

Later, when the auto shop boss closes his business, he gives Kida an address to find Makoto or if he’s looking for a job for himself. That is how Kida finds his best friend Makoto who is well settled with money. Makoto and Kida were not the only two friends. Along with them, there was a girl named Yocchi (Anna Yamada). These three were inseparable and they got along so well together as they were orphans.

Yocchi had a fear of being forgotten but in the present, she isn’t part of the group anymore. What exactly happened to her? Where did she disappear?

The Feel Good Part

The friendship portrayed is deep and emotional between the characters. Though the name Master’s Plan doesn’t suit the movie, the alternative title ” The End of the Tiny World ” actually fits it well. The movie is about three friends whose world turns upside down after an incident. The story is written with appropriate emotions and is well structured, especially when the story gets flashbacks and switches back and forth without confusing the audience.

Although the story has a bit of a dull beginning, it is captivating due to its deep friendship. Together, the characters provide significant support for each other.

The Disappointing Factor

The characters are often sad, a fitting contrast to their teenage years. The story is based on a novel written by Kaoru Yukinari. Director Yuichi Sato has done a brilliant job. The movie is topped off by a good soundtrack. ( except for one piece which is irritating as it’s very quiet.)

In-Depth Analysis

As the story jumps back we get closer to Yocchi. She can be considered a fascinating character. Yocchi had a complex character due to her fear and being a victim of bullying. As Yocchi’s relationship with her friends was quite pleasant in this role, she could have found herself in a love triangle. Although love is discussed here, Master’s Plan is not a love story.

Although the main characters are motivated by love, they make unclear decisions due to their emotions. Each character has a unique personality.

Star Power

Mackenyu Arata plays Makoto, a man who is so ambitious that it almost becomes an obsession. His character wasn’t always like that. He was a playful goofball in the past and his specialty was playing pranks on his friends. Why his personality changed is a mystery to understand.

Kida who is played by Takanori Iwata is a character that suffers through tragic incidents and also becomes a gangster for his and his friend’s sake.

Overall Opinion

It is a real heart-moving movie with an entertaining plot. Which also represents love and friendship.
