This film showcases a drama that is not very unique as such. It has familiar components and plots, for example, a caring guardian, dining table fights, putting one’s life in danger for loved ones, etc. A lot of slow-motion shots in the film also get annoying sometimes.
In-Depth Analysis
Set against the backdrop of China’s economic reform and the opening up of exchange and venture in the mid-1990s, Xiao Bao and his friend moved to the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone with dreams of getting rich. However, the unseen arrival of a baby places a wrench in their plans to get rich. Out of nowhere, the two men are amateur fathers attempting to raise the child. With a plot like this, the film tries to remind us of the importance of being humble and having empathy toward each other. It also tells us about a family who is always there for you no matter what, even though you don’t have any blood ties. The film gives a clear idea about not chasing money and materialistic things but focusing on developing a selfless relationship with fellow humans for a better and happier life.
Star Power
Song Xiabao has done an excellent job of making the film, proving his versatility. All the actors were powerful in their roles, which made the characters in the film very lively. The audience feels very connected to the characters because they are so alive, even though it is fiction.
