Drama Digest

“Our days” is a 2022 Thai drama that follows the BL genre. The story revolves around the main characters Mon, So, and Saint.

The Feel-Good Part

The unique thing about the show is that the dynamics of the lead couple with similar personalities complement each other. They provided a sweet Romance with a happy outlook and also had some life goals. The dedicated support and friendship that the lead character show between them is mesmerizing. The story had a satisfactory ending. The scenes are shot beautifully. Stroma gives more of a slice of life than a true romance story. This drama ghost against the standard theme of the genre. It does not include exceptional actors, but they are portrayed as regular guys in a college. The story is quiet and slow and I like the fast-paced romances in BL dramas.

The Disappointing Factor

The show has a vast cast where characters enter and leave after taking up some time and disappear without even accomplishing anything. The show’s pacing is too slow and by the second half of the series, it becomes draggy. There were not enough elements present to lengthen the show. With the dialogue and the music, the show is below expectations.

In-Depth Analysis

Mon leaves his home for his first year at university. His friend, Pond’s uncle offers free boarding, and Mon stays with him. But Mon takes the wrong address and reaches the wrong house. There he meets Soh, who is the owner of the luxury loft. He is kind and allows Mon to stay for one day. Mon and Soh drank together that night. Soh is entirely drunk and kisses Mon. Mon is overwhelmed by the kiss but Soh does not remember the incident. Soon after, they meet inside the University campus. Soh is then quite surprised by Mon’s unusual behavior. Mon accuses him of inappropriate behavior, and Soh Apologizes and says it was not intentional. But Mon declares that he never wants to see him again. Later, Mon and Pond decide to leave Pond’s uncle’s place and move away. So, they rent a house with their friends, Fame, Jean, and Tiger. Now, by a sudden twist of fate, Mon discovers that Soh is a friend of theirs and is also his roommate. Soh is guilty of his behavior and wants to make amends. He wants both of them to forget the incident and wants to start fresh. But he continues to act weird, which leads to awkwardness in the house. Mon was a basketball enthusiast once, as his father introduced him to it. But he is not interested in it anymore and refuses to apply for the school’s team. The reason behind his disinterest was a high school rival named Tack, as he received a basketball scholarship, whereas Mon did not. They attend the same school together, and Tack mocks him for not being a good enough player for the campus team. Being roommates, Soh becomes curious about his past. Soh then meets Mon’s younger brother Mickey, a high school student. Mickey tells Soh about his older brother’s struggles. Besides, Soh meets another basketball player from a different school named Saint. Saint talks about a strange past with Mon and he seems fond of him. Soh then wonders about their past relationship.

Star Power

The two lead characters, Mon and Soh, were played by Gap Narongkorn Arunraktham and Mhing Thatsaphon Ruengkitrattanakun. Their acting was decent, but because of the dull storyline, their romance was left with a hook. The support characters that formed a secondary couple were respected and were not annoying.

Overall Opinion

Overall, it is a failure for a BL drama. The story is more like a slice of life rather than a romance. The development of romance is poor in the series. But it gives an exciting relationship that shows friendship and understanding. It is worth a try watching but not up to the expectations.
