Drama Digest
This drama is about a shy author, Gene, who became successful suddenly when his romantic BL novel gets adapted into a popular series. He wanted to proceed with his next fantasy novel, but his editor convinced him to write another BL genre novel. He suffers from writer’s block due to which his editor involved him in the production of his BL series- Bad Engineer. He became flustered with all the publicity he got from the celebrity world. During the casting, he became impressed with the handsome actor Nubsib. What will happen if the news of their closeness spreads in the entertainment industry. Will Gene be able to handle that attention? Will their relationship end?
The Feel-Good Part
This series will surprise you from time to time with a lively scene, an emotional scene, or a social gossip. The most beautiful, exquisite moments in the drama were the two episodes which were about the families of Gene and Nubsib. They outdid themselves by delivering impressive and compelling theatre. Do not underestimate the drama because it provides many compelling and emotional scenes which will make you fall in love with the characters and the settings. A considerable part of their success is because of the effortless acting of the actors.
The Disappointing Factor
Lovely Writer does not always get their plot correct. One of the vast defects of this drama is how they showed the character of Aoey, who was seriously so annoying. We wanted a typical opponent but what we got was a fussy villain who always creates nuisance and does senseless actions. The character of Aoey deserves some sympathy because of his devastating circumstances, but his annoying nature exceeds all such feelings. They should make his character cartoony malicious rather than an evil cloud of sadness and melancholy. The first two episodes were extremely loud, with unnecessary sound effects in every dialogue. Although Lovely Writer has a good beginning, the conclusion is quite dull and clumsy. It is like they wrote the face with such enthusiasm and new plots, but towards the end, they were in a hurry to finish it off, so they randomly added scenes and then ended it.
In-Depth Analysis
The story is about the love of two men and how Gene was shy about it at first and was in a stage of denial. Their romance erupted when Gene and Nubsib shared a room. This drama shows the reality that it is still difficult for society to accept love between two men. And also, the fans and media should understand that the artists have to act and promote the show together. It has nothing to do with their relationships or personal life. The artists are owned none by the fans and their production companies, so there should be a borderline between the reel and real, which must not be crossed by anyone.
Star Power
The actor of Gene (Up Poompat Iam-samang) is excellent in his character and nailed even the emotional scenes. The role of Nubsib is played so effortlessly and naturally that you will agree he was made for that role. It is as if the character of Aoey is made for Bruce Sirikorn Kananuruk only. No other actor could play it as well as him.
Overall opinion
Long story short, Lovely Writer is an entertaining drama with exceptional performances. It will give you what the BL industry is like from the outside and inside.
