Drama Digest

Nanno is a mysterious new girl in the school. She transfers to new schools and exposes the mystery, wrongdoings, and lies of the faculty and the students in every school she goes to. She has unmatchable powers. Season 2 is different as new characters are introduced whose role might affect Nanno’s future.

The Feel-Good Part

If you like dramas that have an impact on society and bring into focus the aspects of society that are prevalent but still wrong, you will love season 2 of Girl from Nowhere. It touches on sensitive subjects, like bullying, rape, capitalism, misogyny, and brutal beauty standards. The episodes are horrifying; a classic example of this is the car accident that you don’t want to see but still so fascinating that you can’t help but look at it. The acting is amazing and the plot progresses at a normal pace.

The Disappointing Factor

If you saw True Detective, or maybe 13 Reasons Why you would understand what the reviewer is feeling after watching season 2 of The Girl From Nowhere. As amazing as the first season was, the second season was expected to be better, or at least live up to the name. But it was disappointing, just like the second season of 13 Reasons Why. Now, it was not as bad as to completely put one off the show. If you see it as a single drama, separate from the first season, it is a fine show with an interesting concept. However, since the viewers have already watched the concept in the first season, they were expecting something new. The mere introduction of new characters and hinting at something new does not seem enough to satisfy the ever-curious minds of viewers who are quick to get bored.

In-depth Analysis

Plot progression is much better than one would expect, but still, it could’ve moved faster since the show starts to seem boring at a point. The introduction of new characters is a risk. Yuri is either hated or loved by the fans. The story of the characters with Nanno seems interesting, but their character seems dull in comparison. However, there is still hope as Nanno is as beloved in the second season as she was in the first and we look forward to season 3 in hopes that it will be better.

Star Power

Chicha Amatayakul, also known as Kitty, is as amazing in the second season as she was in the first. One cannot imagine anyone else playing Nanno except her. She brings the character to life. The new character Yuri is played by Chanya McClory. She also plays her character to the T. All the actors are perfectly cast in their roles.

Overall Opinion

Season 2 of Girl From Nowhere may not be as great as it’s predecessor, but there is nothing wrong with the season. If you love the show, you will love the second season. It is filled with violence, satisfactory revenge, and gore.
