Drama Digest

From director Tik Wasinee Khunanitisarn comes a comedy romance sitcom like no other. This roommate follows relationships across the board; roommates, relationships, family, and friends. Ban Sao Soad translates to House of Queens, and we follow the women of this universe as they search for love, and the various complications and comedic moments of life. Together they wish to find a husband while still being anxious and nervous about the outcomes of this endeavor. With a naive outlook on love will they be able to find love? What lies ahead of them in this spiral of finding a husband? Will they work together to lift each other until they find precisely what they want? Watch this heartwarming and hilarious drama as we follow all they have to offer. It’s not easy to find love in the modern world, but through all the struggles, these women hope they do.

The Feel-Good Part

There is a tremendous heartwarming feel to this drama. Some moments are incredibly comedic, and moments make you feel good inside and make you believe in love again. Some great montage moments are hilarious and energetic. There are also some great acting moments where the characters do not break character, no matter how dramatic and silly the moment is. The storyline is relatively simple, which is great as it does not rely on secondary plots, which helps the drama remain streamlined and not complicated. If you are looking for something cleaner and does not require you to overthink, then you will enjoy this drama,

The Disappointing Factor

For as comedic and as silly as it is, this drama tends to be a little bit too silly and unserious. Some moments feel a little bit too comedic and strange which seems nonsensical. Comedic dramas tend to be odd and absurd, and Ban Sao Sod is no exception. Since there is only one running storyline constantly the women waiting to find husbands, the show relies on gags and running jokes that are oftentimes hit or miss. The length of comedy is also very long. Comedies, especially absurdist comedies, are better off in smaller doses. With a one-hour runtime with twenty episodes, the show can feel like it drags on even with a simplistic premise of finding a husband. But the beauty of this drama is that for all its flaws, it does not take itself too seriously or try to be something it is not. It is genuinely here just for comedic purposes.

In-Depth Analysis

Comedy is usually hit-or-miss, and with Ban Sao Sod, the same can be said. There is nothing inherently wrong with the drama, but whatever it does right, it does make for a fun viewing experience. As mentioned earlier, the show deals heavily with love and being prepared for whatever that exploration brings you.
