Drama Digest

Jin Sung, a restaurant chef, lies about being gay to get a reality TV show to pay his father’s hospital bills. As the show gets recognition, he struggles to keep up with his lie because he starts developing feelings for his female producer, Ah Jin. Everything gets more complicated when he realizes that Tae Wan, a fashion designer, has a crush on him, with the three of them getting tangled in a love triangle which gets more complicated because of the show’s popularity and public eyes.

 The Feel-Good Part

Tae Wan is the best character and the sole reason to start and even finish the drama. His acting is so perfect and to the point. He doesn’t show his emotions but starts opening up with Jin Sung. He did an outstanding job.

Also, the show is shot very well. The scenes where Jin Sung is cooking are chef’s kiss (pun intended). But seriously those scenes are perfect and you can just watch him cook all day.

The Disappointing Factor

The whole show is disappointing. Shooting a whole show on a “gay chef” is more like seeing them as some unique creature rather than just a normal human being. The whole premise of the show is wrong, and on top of that, you don’t get any LGBTQ+ representation. It is like using that tag for the drama to gain popularity.

In-Depth Analysis

Jin Sung’s father gets in an accident but h doesn’t have enough money to pay his hospital bills. Moreover, his business partner withdraws suddenly withdraws and he is on the verge of losing his restaurant.

Ah Jin gives the idea of a show named “Sweet Munchies”, a talk show about a gay chef. Her boss ridicules her and gives her the impossible task of finding a gay chef within 24 hours, or she loses her job. Jin Sung learns about this and signs up at the last minute, lying about being gay.

As the show starts, they meet Tae Wan, a fashion designer who admires Jin Sung for coming out publicly on the TV. He develops feelings for him but his heart breaks when he finds out about Jin Sung being straight.

Star Power

The star cast is amazing, especially Tae Jin. He did a fantastic job at playing Tae Wan. Always keeps his emotions in check and gives out his best.

Overall Opinion

If you are looking for a BL drama, you’ll be disappointed. The show has nothing that sort of and definitely did no justice with the LGBTQ+ theme.
