Drama Digest

The story starts with the daughter-in-law belonging to the wealthy Chaebol family who seems to have everything an ordinary person would want. But, the daughter-in-law hits rock bottom at the earliest when she is accused of murdering her husband and is given her sentence of ten years in prison. Her most heartbreaking bit of this was that she also had to give up custody of her baby to protect her future life. This is a great melodrama with a mix of suspense, crime, thrill and a pinch of romance. The protagonist is Ji Eun-Soo, who served 10 years in prison for a murder she didn’t commit and had to give up her daughter, Woo-Joo. After remaining in the prison for years, Ji Eun-soo is adamant about getting her daughter back but she soon realises that her daughter had been adopted by a single dad named Kang Ji Min. And so, she plans to seduce him and win his trust to unite with her daughter. Will she succeed? Or will she be caught in another web of lies? Watch the series to know more.

The Feel-Good Part

Through out the drama, the curiosity of the audience is bound to remain at a peak. The scenes were not predictable as the cliffhangers kept you on the edge and the mystery sank deeper and revealed only right after the characters learned new information. Another great thing about this drama is the determined and strong female lead. The relationship between Ji Eun-Soo and Kang Ji-Min is sweet and realistic. There is an involvement of romance, a love triangle too, but the best thing about it is the mature behavior of the second lead, Kim Yeon-Joon. Of course, we can’t exclude the mother’s love that is portrayed between the female lead and her daughter.

The Disappointing Factor

The marriage of Eun-soo and her abusive husband doesn’t really make much sense since her late husband was not only abusive but also had hidden psychological problems. There were logic lapses and weak plot progression through-out the series. The villain Kim Ho-Ran’s hate for Eun-Soo was not quite justified and had no valid reason. All in all, the ending could’ve been better.

In-Depth Analysis

The story is indeed suspenseful as it is heart-touching and perfectly melodramatic. The story is centered around the mother’s love for her daughter. There were not a lot of focuses on the romance between the main leads, but the subtle moments that they shared were sweet and heart-warming. The good characters that we perceive to like were really comforting to the point that they make you fall in love with them and the characters that play against the main leads make you want to hate them. Overall, this drama showcases many aspects of life.

Star Power

The performances of the main leads and the supporting characters make the whole series worth watching. All the characters are portrayed in a good manner that shows their personalities exceptionally.

Overall Opinion

This makjang-laced story will definitely entertain you if you love a thrilling melodrama that not only makes you smile and gush over sweet moments, but also grip your pillow and wonder what the next episode would be like.
