Drama Digest

“Girlfriend Project Day 1” is a mini-Korean drama series. The story revolves around two young high school girls. They set it around homosexual relationships in high school.

The Feel-Good Part

The show is perfect as a high school drama that covers some important topics such as gender-based love and relationships. The show has the power to break stereotypes and toxicity that exist in the present world. There was tension, shyness, and also a romance between them. It had a happy ending. Although short, it delivered everything necessary within that short period.

The Disappointing Factor

The show is extremely short and left the viewers anticipating more. 4 episodes with 9 minutes duration each was not enough to cover such an important plot that may have been outstanding. The budget of the show is also extremely low, which is the reason for the messed-up editing. Some scenes had missing elements and were also out of order. Because it was so short, the ending seemed incomplete. The plot is excellent but seemed rushed. A lot of potential for the drama is being wasted.

In-Depth Analysis

Two girls, Hee Ram and Ga In have the same general education class. They met during a Psychology of Love and Sex class. During that class, they asked students to perform a dating mission, where two of them had to pair up and act like a couple. It was a school project for them where they had to fake date. Hee Ram is a hardworking student whereas Ga In is an easy goer. The two of them had trouble clicking with each other since the beginning. Now when they need to work together, things get difficult. But while doing so, they end up falling for each other.

Star Power

The two main characters Park Hyun Woo and Bing Hye Jin, who played Ahn Ga In and Song-Hee Ram, had a mesmerizing chemistry. They have excellent potential as actresses. If only the show had more episodes, it would have been interesting to watch both of them grow together in their relationship.

Overall Opinion

It is an excellent show with an amazing plot. The short duration of the show is a major drawback. Perhaps one can finish the whole drama in 20 minutes in one sitting. But it is still enjoyable as a light show. The story is warm and lovely with a unique plot of Korean dramas.
