Ukiwa: Tomodachi Ijo, Furin Miman (うきわ ―友達以上、不倫未満―) is a Japanese drama series that aired from the 9th of August, 2021, to the 27th of September, 2021. Executed under the direction of Kazama Hiroki and written for the screen by Kuramitsu Yasuko, the drama revolves around Maiko and her discovery of her husband’s illicit affair. The series has eight episodes with a running time of over forty minutes.
The Feel-Good Part
Apart from the complications arising between the couple, the series becomes an entertaining binge. What keeps the audience at the edge is the artful use of suspense by the directors. Until the end of Ukiwa: Tomodachi Ijo, Furin Miman, we do not gain awareness regarding Takuya’s situation and the budding romance between Maiko and Hajime.
The Disappointing Factor

In-Depth Analysis
Maiko and her husband, Takuya, move to Hiroshima, owing to his busy work and the new workplace. Takuya pulling long hours at the office leaves Maiko plenty of time to herself. With nothing to amuse herself, she befriends her neighbor named Hajime. Both hit off with a good start when she finds out he is her husband’s boss. Several conversations later, she discovers her husband’s illicit affair, unraveling a can of worms for the two.
