Drama Digest

The series centers around the life of a brilliant man named Yuri Rintaro. He is a white-haired gentleman who is very cunning and smart. He is a genius in his perceptiveness and reasoning but does not talk a lot. He is famous for being the chief of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division. There occurred a case which left him triggered and he had to resign from the police force and leave that place. He ended up returning back to his hometown, Kyoto. Yuri completed his education in Kyoto and so he was very fond of the place. He based himself in Hada Satomi’s rooms that ran an antique shop. He set up an office there. He became a forensic or a criminal psychologist. After being requested by the police, he also turned into a consulting detective to help out in investigations along with the police. Yuri was great at archery despite of having a fear of sharp objects. He meets with Mitsugi Shunsuke, a young guy who aspired to be a mystery writer. He ends up becoming Yuri’s assistant. Mitsugi really admired and worshipped Yuri. He also ran a website called Yuri Rintaro’s Case Files, which had a record of almost all the cases solved by Yuri.

The Feel Good Part

The series features different accidents and incidents. Yuri’s case solving techniques are really admirable and interesting to watch.

The Disappointing Factor

The show is great, besides a few minor flaws. But the audience expected the show to have better mystery scenes in it. The cases were well executed but the viewers were looking forward to see more of the climax part.

In-Depth Analysis

The show is quite good overall. Yuri mentions his life long journey throughout the show while unraveling the cases. In some of the scenes, the cases seemed dragged and very messed up. The cases were tightly constructed, but there were not many plots and the show lacked excitement and seemed rushed. But anyhow, Yuri’s trace tracking techniques and careful observances of crime scenes were a delight to watch. He learned those skills from a hunter whom he met in the Rocky Mountains in USA.

Star Power

The cast was pretty good and did their roles so well. Kikkawa Koji played the role of Yuri Rintaro, Shison Jun played the role of Mitsuki Shunsuke, Tanabe Seiichi played the role of Todoroki Keibu, Donguri played the role of Hada Satomi, Kimoto Takehiro played the role of Yamagishi Kappei, etc.

Overall Opinion

The show is well executed and directed. If you love mystery dramas, this show will surely entice you!
