Drama Digest

Miura Manatsu’s mother is dangerously ill, and he believes that getting married will bring some light into her life, and speed up her recovery. However, he has a problem. He does not have a girlfriend, let alone a fiancee. So he decides to delve into a dating app and look for potential partners.

Haruta Ami, who also uses the same app, is desperate to get over her former flame and is looking for a new relationship to help her rebound from that. The duo meet online and hastily get married without knowing anything about each other well.

However, things take a turn when they realize that they are co-workers, and in not telling their colleagues about their marriage, they have walked into making their marital status an awkward little secret. As days go by, and the pair come to know each other, they realise that true love may be right around the corner.

The Feel-Good Part

This drama is quick and sweet and is perfect for your fast binge-watching session when you want to watch something that is not too heavy on your mind and also is a strong mood-lifter. Another extremely appreciable factor about this drama is the likeability of the characters. They are maturely written and are nontoxic individuals who do not get on the viewers’ nerves by lacking morality. The male lead is respectful of the female lead’s boundaries. The ex-girlfriend is shown to be grown enough not to harass the male or the female lead when she gets rejected, and that is rare and commendable because the other woman is often written out to be the antagonist in dramas worldwide.

The intro is delightful to watch, and the song is catchy. It makes the drama more lighthearted, making it difficult for the viewer to skip it.

The Disappointing Factor

A lot of the secondary characters, although written maturely, are very one-dimensional. They feel basic and do not add much to the drama and exist for the sake of the norm. The drama could have been well-rounded if it chose to deal with the issues it briefly touches upon and magically resolves within seconds. Although it is sweet and romantic comedies are primarily unrealistic, it just pushes the boundary a tad bit too much. The drama would have been way more believable if they had initial problems in communication and a few conflicts because, at the end of the day, they are two married strangers.

In-Depth Analysis

This is a sweet drama that makes you feel like your head is in the clouds with all the tooth-rotting fluff. The story is fast-paced and cute, and is perfect for taking your mind off the complicated things in your life. The protagonists are adorable and the softness just leaves you craving for more. However, this is what acts to its detriment. The drama barely brushes on real issues that can plague a surprise marriage and resolves them too quickly to be natural. When a viewer watches this series, they are left wondering about what the show could have been, and that in itself is indicative of how much potential was squandered away.

Star Power

Itagaki Mizuki and Matsui Airi’s dynamic is charming, and their personas add to the characters positively.

Overall Opinion

Go into this looking to be comforted, not nuance, and this drama will stand true to all your expectations from it.
