Drama Digest

The story begins when Hirasawa Momoko starts to work in a café in a hotel. One day when she goes to the rooftop, she finds a man standing on the edge of the terrace as if about to jump. She pulls him back, and in return, he kisses her. Even if they don’t know each other, she is taken aback by the stranger. But as he also works in the same hotel in a senior position, it is almost impossible to avoid each other. There begins the sensuous affair of Hirasawa Momoko and Hase Kei.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama is soft and fluffy. Nothing very angsty. If you are looking for a light watch with no sort of melodrama, this one is for you. There are very few to no complications in the story, which is basically a stress-relieving drama.

The Disappointing Factor

The drama is kind of repetitive. It is nothing you haven’t seen in previous dramas or read in books. Things are a bit monotone.

The story is kind of absurd because they don’t even know each other, but they kiss, and start dating the next day. The story being fast-paced is one thing and moving the story ahead without any sort of character development is one thing.

The “love triangle” gives second-hand embarrassment. That thing didn’t work out at all, not in favor of the couple and not even in the favor of so-called story.

In-Depth Analysis

Love is Phantom is an adult romance drama with an almost fifteen years age gap between the main couples. If you are looking for logic, this show is probably not for you. The prominent theme of the drama is adult romance, though of course not that adult but there is a lot of kissing scenes, and surprisingly in this show, it is not that awkward because in Asian shows, this is a serious issue. But the chemistry between the couples is not that good. Again, the female lead is quite dumb and acts immature at times. She could’ve been naïve, but this one is dumb. Of course, no hate toward the actress, just the character.

Star Power

The star cast is average. The scenes with side characters are also awkward. Things could’ve been better, but it is fine if you really want to watch it.

Overall Opinion

The show is fine. Not much story or angst but a good production anyway. If you are looking for something light, this one is for you.
