The Feel-Good Part

The show is unique with its delicate, and slow-paced scenes. The series dives into the mysteries regarding the murders of a college student, the death of some workers, etc, and unveils the secrets around them. The series also lightly touches upon the Tohoku Earthquake that had struck Japan, leading to destruction.

The Disappointing Factor

The drama focuses on the mystery regarding the crimes, but at the same time, it also gives insight into the lives of the people surrounding the victim, and the people solving the crimes. The show may appear to be going too slow at some places and may be bothersome for some viewers.

In-Depth Analysis

The show showcases the relationship between Asagao and her mother. She has still not healed from losing her mother, and it keeps her at the edge all day long. The show realistically shows how characters deal with their sadness and grief differently. What is even more remarkable is the relationship established between Asagao and her father. The show realistically shows the complexities of a broken relationship between a father and a daughter. It also shows the hardships that come along with being a detective and a forensic scientist. The mysteries surrounding the victims unraveling their secrets through forensic evidence are a delight to watch and keep the readers hooked. The pain and intricacies between Asagao and Taira are depicted in an exceptionally heart-wrenching manner. Asagao tries to be positive, but her grief is still fresh. Asagao lost her mother in the Great East Japan Earthquake ten years ago. But her mother’s body was never found. She knows her father Taira still goes to Tohoku whenever he has time to find her mother’s corpse. One morning, on the way to work, she gets to know about a stampede on a pedestrian bridge after a false fire alarm got activated in a nearby stadium. But later on, she hears the interview of a man who lost his wife in the stampede. He claims it was a murder, not an accident. Asagao had been relying on her father, husband, and daughter to cope with her mother’s loss. But after the incident, she decides to travel alone to search on her father’s behalf. Ueno Juri has portrayed Maki Asagao’s character exceptionally well. She manages to make the audience grieve for the victims whenever she analyzes the corpses. Watching her whisper-“please tell me”- to the dead bodies shakes up the audience witnessing her sincere efforts. Watching her efforts pay off is even more inspiring to watch. She healed the wounds of the victim’s families and tries her best to unveil the crime or the reason for the victims dead. She never fails to identify the corpses.

Star Power
