Drama Digest

The drama tells the story of Japan’s most loved creators. Many people know them, and they have this massive list of individuals who have watched their content. However, when they go into debt, their content creation can’t alone save them. They find themselves in desperate need of a job that provides them required wages, which can free them from their financial issues. Thus, they decide to get one and get employed in a company. But that company isn’t what they expected it to be and is a “sweetshop-like-conglomerate.” Anyhow, now, since they are the members of Tokai, they have to go through several different nonsensical situations and orders that the company imposes on them.

The Feel-Good Part

The comic timing is just great. You will probably go rolling on your floor, laughing. The dialogues and the eccentric characters will make you laugh your heart out. The drama for sure stands up to the comedy part. Moreover, that frustration of office place and having a ‘no-so-outstanding’ life is something what many of us can relate to. Also, the neat and crisp office attire deserves some praise. Furthermore, the look of the characters is just as distinctive as the individuals themselves.

The Disappointing Factor

The drama was a comedy series, and it unquestionably can be seen living up to that. No doubt, the spirit was appreciable and commendable, yet humor isn’t all that a series can survive on. The story does not at all feel superficial; it instead seems quite absurd. You will often find yourself questioning things and situations but will never have an answer to your doubts. The makers failed to explain some ‘how’s’ because of which the story does feels lame sometimes.

In-Depth Analysis

The drama is a YouTube original Japanese drama. It is a witty comic series that will make your stomach hurt from laughing. Although the story might not have much to offer apart from silly humor, seeing the characters land into problems, one after other as they struggle through their lives, is something we all can connect to personally. Besides, when the characters are assigned weird works or every time they are frustrated towards their jobs or their boss, their resultant exasperation is something many of us can relate to and will find to be enjoyable.

Star Power

The drama does have a powerful cast. ‘Tsuda Kanji,’ ‘Komatsu Toshimasa,’ and ‘Yahagi Honoka’ are part of the main cast, and they did justice to their roles. Their lively acting is probably one of the top sparkling stars of the show. In fact, the show has few remarkable guest appearances. For instance, ‘Atsugiri Jason’ did a cameo in the fifth episode, while ‘Hajime Syacho’ also appeared in the fourth.

Overall Opinion

It might not be the type of series you might re-watch repeatedly. Nevertheless, it could still serve as a great one-time watch. This ten-episode drama will surely entertain you. In case you are hoping to have a good laugh, then you should watch Gray Zone Agency, Inc. Also, since the drama isn’t quite time-consuming, many might even finish it in one go.
