Drama Digest

The story revolves around several people, who have troubles in their lives, based in the city of Ginza. The episodes begin with a monologue explaining how every person has some kind of history that they have forgotten or choose to forget. Each episode showcases the story of a different person and their life becoming better as they come across a black cat. Each person or a group of people encounters the black cat in a playground, as it is just staring at them. After the person notices the cat, it runs away and leads them to one of the stores in Ginza that might be suitable for them and their situation. The situations of the characters vary drastically. From a person who just lost his father and yearned for a proper meal that he never had a chance to have with his father to a workaholic lady who forgets the importance of family by being too busy with work, the situations vary widely. How drastic or calm can the situation get? Will the Black cat be able to help everyone in Ginza?

The Feel-Good Part

What makes this whole drama unique is that the characters in each episode have no connection to each other but are connected due to the black cat. This is quite rare in dramas. This form of storytelling has started to get incorporated into films and series very recently. What is even more impressive is that, even though nothing is connected, as an audience, you will never feel the disconnect.

The Disappointing Part

As the series is a little slow, people might get bored through it. It’s more of a feel-good series and not very dramatic causing it to become a little monotonous for the audience.

In-Depth Analysis

In Japan, the black cat is a form of good luck in a person’s life, and this has been used very innovatively in this series. This is what makes the basis of the storyline. The series proves the belief that Black cats are lucky and can form any form of grief or sadness into happiness. Furthermore, the series also talks about how everyone has a history that is meant to be cherished.

Star Power

Unlike most films and series, this series isn’t focused on the star cast at all. In fact, most actors in this series are not very popular, but they are the perfect casting for the roles they are playing.

Overall Opinion

It is a series that everyone at some episode will relate to for sure. It also leaves a lingering feeling as you finish the series. It would at no point leave you with a feeling of uneasiness. If you’re looking for a wholesome feel-good series, this is it.
